Well, Trump used the F-word recently at a rally, so that's not really a surprise. It's inexcusable, of course, but at least he's not trying to portray himself as pious.

I suspect Cruz suffers from very low self-esteem:

1) People who are extremely arrogant often use such behavior as a coping mechanism to project confidence.

2) Men who fool around often do so in an attempt to prove their manliness.

Of course, that doesn't excuse his behavior, but I think it does help explain it.

To be fair, though, one might say the same holds true for Trump--at least up to a point.
