Ted Cruz denies affairs, denounces ‘garbage’ report; Trump says his campaign wasn’t involved

WASHINGTON — A Donald Trump supporter aired unsubstantiated rumors of Ted Cruz infidelity on CNN on Friday. Within an hour, Cruz accused Trump of using “henchmen” to peddle tabloid “garbage” and “complete and utter lies.”
By mid-afternoon, Trump took to social media to deny his involvement in the story.
Mainstream news outlets had steered clear of the rumors and a report in the tabloid National Enquirer before the Trump supporter — appearing live with Amanda Carpenter, a CNN commentator who had worked as Cruz’s communications director — demanded Carpenter address the allegation that she had an affair with the senator.
“It is categorically false. You should be ashamed for spreading this kind of smut,” Carpenter shot back, visibly angry, denouncing the “tabloid trash.”
Twitter and other social media have erupted since the Enquirer posted its story Thursday afternoon, with the hashtag #Cruzsexscandal trending. Cruz detractors mounted an impromptu crowdsourcing effort online to identify the five women whose photos the Enquirer published with black bars across their eyes.
Cruz was campaigning in Wisconsin as Friday’s CNN segment was airing onstage live at a town hall in Oshkosh. The Enquirer report did not come up in the Q&A. The senator addressed it with reporters afterward.
Cruz also posted a denial on his Facebook page.

What is up with the jacket? I have looked at it and don't see anything.
You have to see the Fox video of him showing off his tattoo. They commented on everybody normally wears a jacket on the show. He blew it off with a strange comment. This was at the same time his mistress was tweeting out a picture of the same tattoo on the back side of her shoulder. The "man's jacket" was hanging down around her in the picture.

“Ted needs to demand, not ask but *demand* an immediate apology and retraction from the National Enquirer OR: he will instruct his legal team to begin legal proceedings. The longer he hesitates to make that demand, the more damage that is going to be inflicted. He’s got to do it now, preferably in time for the Sunday talk shows today.”
Unfortunately, to do that, Cruz has to be certain that there isn’t a scintilla of TRUTH to the allegations. All the faux indignation, and using the matter to blame his opponent won’t mean crap if ANY of the NE’s story is the truth. The fact that there’s not been the kind of actions you state, gives us all pause.

Conventional wisdom would have Cruz supporters circling the wagons, Trump supporters wring their hands with delight, and those of us on the forum who back him to be very happy.
I’m not happy. I’ve gone through family grief on issues like this going back to when I was a child. It isn’t something I want to see anyone go through.
To be honest, if Ted is guilty of this, I will even feel bad for him. Even the perpetrator of something like this can suffer tremendous loss during a time like this.
Heidi, the kids, even Ted, it’s a real mess.
What will be will be, but don’t get the idea all Trump supporters are thrilled to see this.
If Ted is exonerated, I will share the Cruz supporters animosity with National Enquirer.
If it is true, Ted’s wild oats will bear fruit in ways he will wish they didn’t.

Seems the only side worried about anyone’s morality are those in Camp Cruz. Glen Beck is a highly visible manifestation of this.

All Roger Stone said was that the story had been swirling around for a good while. That's a factual statement. It had been.
So you're full of it. The truth will eventually come out, so don't get too hysterical with your Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS™).
The Rubio campaign was clearly pushing this a couple of weeks ago, and people have been going back and deleting tweets in an attempt to cover that fact up.
But, of course, anything bad that happens to Ted Cruz must be Donald Trump's fault, right?
Pathetic.
The real likelihood is that someone wanted to make it appear as if Trump might have done this. But there's no evidence of that. In fact, there's evidence to the contrary...
