Hillary Clinton would crush Donald Trump in a hypothetical general election match-up, a new national survey found.
According to a Bloomberg Politics poll released Wednesday, Clinton leads Trump 54 percent to 36 percent in a contest between the two front-runners.
Also troubling for Trump – nationally, only 29 percent of likely general election voters have a favorable view of him, compared to 68 percent who view him negatively.
Trump’s favorability rating is at an all-time low in the survey, while his negative rating has gone up 13 points since November and hit a new high.

Carter was supposed to “crush” Reagan too in early polling. How did that turn out? These polls are meaningless right now.

If Trump stops the unforced errors, particularly his personal fights involving women, and stays focused on borders/jobs - he might have a chance.
He needs to hold almost all of GWB’s states picking up a rust belt state or two (MI? WI?) to make up for some Hispanic-driven losses (CO, NM) from the GWB slate. FL should be a big worry. Hillary got slightly more votes than he did in the primary and she will inherit all of Bernie’s votes, while Trump is less certain of picking up all of Cruz/Rubio’s. Virginia is going to very tough too.
IIRC, Carter was +18 over Reagan in March 1980.
Carter at that point still had the “Desert One” debacle ahead of him.
I’m waiting for all those hypothetical voters to come out of their theoretical homes, and go to the theoretical polling places.

Unfortunately, that scenario has a good possibility of coming true.

Unfortunately, the polling companies talk to a lot more women, and of a broader social strata - and the results are less happy for Trump.
Unfortunately, you’re forgetting the one thing hard wired into a woman’s DNA...security.
