Trump dismisses Cruz explanation in fight over wife's photo

Donald Trump on Wednesday kept up his attack against Ted Cruz by claiming the Texas senator is behind a recent ad showing Trump's wife Melania in the nude.

Trump first accused Cruz on Tuesday of circulating a provocative image of Melania from a January 2000 photoshoot with GQ Magazine. In the accusation posted to Trump's Twitter account, the brash businessman also said he would "spill the beans" on Cruz's wife, Heidi.

But the Texas senator said he had "nothing to do" with the ad after the anti-Trump Make America Awesome PAC took credit for it.

On Wednesday, Trump slammed "Lyin' Ted Cruz" over his repeated assurance that he took no part in the development or circulation of the ad.

Cruz hit back at Trump Wednesday morning – hours before the billionaire's latest tweet – during an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo.

"It reveals a lot about class, that Donald's instinct is to try to attack my wife and sully her," he said.

She was a super model? Um I think it was a job, and she looks classy in the photo.

Right. So what's the big deal if some PAC no one ever heard of publicizes it?

Out with the truth of the matter Mr Trump. What is your solid evidence?

It's bad enough that we have a low brow feud in this presidential campaign over a leading candidate who's wife stripped for the camera. Dems are having quite the field day.

Cruz believes, and has stated, that a “candidate bears responsibility for the culture of a campaign”.

He said this on the occasion of trying to palm off the blame for the riots in Chicago onto Trump, instead of the leftist scumbags who actually fomented those riots. In other words, he attacked Trump from the left, something a certain high-profile Cruz supporter liked to accuse Trump of doing (before he did his “suicide by mod”).

So, when an anti-Trump super PAC tells voters to vote for Cruz instead of Trump in a sleazy ad, and Cruz refuses to disavow the ad, it has become part of the culture of his campaign. He owns it, in spite of his weak attempt to say “it wasn’t me”.

We have seen that same culture before. There was the “Carson is dropping out” lie in Iowa, which Cruz tried to blame on his overenthusiastic campaign staff, and his supporters robotically followed suit by blaming Carson instead of Cruz.

And then there’s the insanity that Stabby Beck has brought to the Cruz campaign.

In light of Cruz’s statement about the campaign culture, every bit of slime that has emerged from his campaign and various hangers-on, in the absence of any disavowal, belongs to Cruz himself.

Cruz needs to clean up his act, his campaign, and set an example for his hangers-on that would befit the Christian that he claims to be.

It doesn’t look like he has any intention of doing that.

Too bad Cruz is not as honorable as Trump. Face it, Cruz is a piss poor leader and is part of The Establishment and the Bush Machine.

And Trump gave money to Chuckie Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. And Hillary.

‘being purposely misled for my vote is infuriating to me.’

So true for most of us. In fairness it appears Cruz convinced a vast swath of conservatives that he was the real deal. One thing I do believe about him is that he has a truly brilliant mind. In the right circumstances, he can be incredibly persuasive.

Seems Cruz has a reputation for lying....and always blaming someone that he is absolutely not connected with.

Actually, that's Trump. He projects his negative features onto others.

Trump has made it a regular part of campaign and the Trumpanzees on this site mindlessly repeat it - over and over and over and over again.

and I will not put out what I have on Heidi Cruz, it isn't going to do any one any good, and will just over react some loons on here already...surmise to say, it's really bad...

So, you are just going to through that bait out there and not disclose what you know/believe?

Candidates and their PACS are prohibited from having any contact with each other. However, it happens all the time.

A Washington D.C. insider on Hannity's radio show today said contact is constant, things being done with "winks and nods" all the time.

Only a political naif would think there's no roundabout communications between candidates and their PACS. You can bet that Cruz knew about this ad being created and shown....and that he could have stopped it if he wanted to.

But PACS (a BAD law that Mr. Trump wants reformed) provide EXCELLENT COVER for all kinds of secret donors, undercover strategy cooperation plus all kinds of advertising shenanigans.

So why should Cruz worry? He can play the innocent victim with panache and without fear thanks to his PAC cohourts.

I'm puzzled as to why Trump is upset that the pic got used in the first place.

Perhaps you are not a husband who loves his wife enough to get fighting mad to defend her.

Candidates and their PACS are prohibited from having any contact with each other.

There is no restriction on condemning as inappropriate an ad that a PAC puts out, just as there is no restriction on condemning a presentation someone makes declaring one the savior of Mormon prophecy. One does not condemn either when one wants to bank all of Utah's delegates by getting 50%. Becoming a Mormon to the Mormons to do so is just good business ...

Hi, Leni!

Be careful! I was called a simpleton today for claiming that Cruz could have the ad pulled.

Fortunately, my safe space was nearby so I crawled into it and have finally recovered.

The photos are out there, I don’t think trump is upset about the photos per say I think he is truly upset in the way disgusTED is trying to portray them as porn!!! DIRTY TEDDY BEAR only wishes he had this wife to come home to EVERYDAY!!! Melania has been VERY quiet and taking care of their son, this campaign to portray her as a porn queen is unacceptable to me!!!

“Any of Trumps nude wife pics will only help him.”

IIRC when Hillary was in college she participated in some body type study which involved being photographed nekkid. Supposedly those images were destroyed sometime after she became First Lady.
