Donald Trump would lead either Ted Cruz or John Kasich in a two-way race, according to the results of a Quinnipiac University national poll released Wednesday. Asked whom they would like to win the GOP nomination, 43 percent of the 652 Republicans surveyed said they wanted Trump to emerge as the party's choice in Cleveland, followed by 29 percent for Cruz and just 16 percent for Kasich, with 9 percent undecided.
Not sure what your rambling about. When have I ever said a poll was a bad poll? Polls are what they are, a snapshot at the time they are taken.
The only polls I have ever dismissed are any that are hypotheticals about future events having any relevance on what will actually happen in the future. Even then I am quite clear the polls say what they say at the time they are taken... its when someone infers that a hypothetical poll taken today for an event 8 months from now tells you anything about how the contest will go 8 months from now that they go off the deep end.
“Cruz is just plain unlikeable to many, including myself. I dont like the way he looks ...”
mrs riverdawg is not a Trump fan either (she says he’s not a conservative), but the first time she saw Cruz on TV, she said “he’s creepy.” That sentiment is apparently widespread.
Apparently, we may be electing another amoral Narcissist with no understanding of what made America great. Trump, Rotten, take your pick; both are more similar than dissimilar.
See post 18, the poll is quite clear. It asked those polled one on one questions, and the answers were what they were, Trump beats Cruz head to head and Kasich head to head.
Now there were 12% undecided in the Trump/Cruz match up, so if you want to believe Cruz will get all 12% of the undecideds (statistical impossibility, but if you want to go there, fine) and win, feel free. But the poll was pretty clear and this isn’t some fly by night polling outfit either.
Your first mistake is listening to Cruz. Seriously - he is obviously biased and spinning. Plus he lies.
Trump can beat Hillary in so many places that Utah’s 6 measly delegates in the general won’t matter. Anyway, Hilary did even worse than Trump last night in Utah.
Don’t sweat - Trump will take Hilary down.
It was a general comment for anyone that has posted about polls unfavorable to Trump are bogus.
For some absolutely CRAZY! reason, the Founders didn't make "Lincoln-Douglas-style debates" a requirement to hold the office of POTUS.
They were smart enough to realize it isn't a job requirement, nor a skill a POTUS needs. Your post implies it is in some way a test of whether a candidate should be POTUS. The Founders did not think so, as recorded in the Constitution.
Trump is no empty suit. He has accomplished much out in the real world. Winning debates is not the real world.
You’re probably right. I am loathe to believe a politicians claims about polling. Half of me wants to believe a dead donkey can beat Hillary. But I thought that about Obama too and it didn’t take.
Very widespread. I know many women that think he’s creepy and that he looks like Eddie Munster or both!
Trump wouldn’t know the Constitution if a hurricane blew it into his face. Trump never speaks of Constitutional rights and freedoms, save the 2nd Amendment most recently. He is all about government power, and his own ego. No, a true debate is not required, but a man of character with an understanding of Constitutional principles would welcome one. He is not that kind of man, so he is wise to know that his clock would be cleaned in such an event.
Another myth bites the dust.
“If the coward Trump had the courage to face Ted one-on-one in a debate”
There have been plenty of debates.
Trump’s victories only prove that a person such willing to say or do anything without conscience often wins in this life. It’s a pity that millions refuse to examine him closely. This primary season is such a repeat of the Obot cult of 2008 that it’s scary. Truth, even about Trump, is still the perfect defense, though deaf ears are in plentiful supply in 2016 America.
I predict that one of them will be the nominee...
Not a single REAL debate. Those forums were farces.
For the “1 part”, I was referring to Trump’s use of the CNN poll during the debate with him at something like 49%, while he ignored his head-to-head with Clinton or Cruz.
Opinion.Trump never speaks of Constitutional rights and freedoms, save the 2nd Amendment most recently.
He has spoken about Constitutional Rights. Many times over many months.
He is all about government power, and his own ego.
He certainly has an ego. You need one to pursue this job. That is not unusual among presidents.
No, a true debate is not required, but a man of character with an understanding of Constitutional principles would welcome one.
That's crazy talk, dressed as a fact.
He is not that kind of man, so he is wise to know that his clock would be cleaned in such an event.
If a Lincoln-Douglas-style debate is exactly what every man of character and an understanding of Constitutional principles would welcome - and I sense you think they are required - why do we still call them Lincoln-Douglas debates? They haven't happened historically.
It appears you want to form this election into the single thing Ted has ability to do - other than lie.
Yes, isn’t the life of owning the media wonderful! If you want a love feast of Cruz listen to Rush today. I could only take his praises for 5 minutes while in my truck today.
find us a poll that makes us happy about November.
I know it’s very early. don’t understand how Bernie could have such a lead over repubs.
“Cruz had 11 debates to whack Trump.
Never laid a glove on him.”
He wants to have debate after debate after debate until Cruz finally wins one. Enough of the debates already. Geeez
