Ted Cruz attacked Donald Trump’s character for threatening his wife on Tuesday and blamed his opponent's attack on “a very bad night” in Utah.
“If Donald wants to get in a character fight he's better off sticking with me, because Heidi is way out of his league,” Cruz said on CNN’s “New Day,” responding to a late-night tweet from Trump warning, "Be careful, Lyin' Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!”
The attack reveals a lot about Trump's character, Cruz said. "That should be beneath Donald," he said. "The reason he's doing that is because he had a very bad night last night. He got clobbered in Utah."
Trump’s tweet — which began with “Lyin' Ted Cruz just used a picture of Melania from a G.Q. shoot in his ad" — is an apparent reference to an online ad by anti-Trump super PAC Make America Awesome, which used a photo of Trump’s wife Melania posing nude in British GQ in 2000 in an attempt to sway conservative Mormon voters.
Cruz responded via Twitter shortly after: "Pic of your wife not from us. Donald, if you try to attack Heidi, you're more of a coward than I thought. #classless.”
On CNN, host Chris Cuomo asked the Texas senator if engaging with Trump was a good idea.
"The tweet he was unhappy about was not even a super PAC supporting me. It is an independent group. I don’t know them,” Cruz said. "When Donald gets scared, when he gets angry, when he gets threatened ... So last night Donald threatened my wife, he went directly after my wife."
Cruz also ratcheted up his pressure on John Kasich, who fared poorly in Tuesday's contests, to get out of the race, repeatedly calling the Ohio governor a “spoiler.”

I'm not one of those believing Cruz is going to storm back and win enough delegates for the nomination. Take that up with someone who does.

Ted Cruz is a joke who, everyday, shows he is clearly losing his hold on reality. He's a piker.
Bottom line, none of this matters. Cruz moves further behind in the delegate count. He now has to win 90% plus of the remaining delegates, where Trump needs less than 50%.
All this bickering only helps Hillary.
It doesn’t take much googling to discover that the super-pac responsible for attacking Melania Trump is Make America Awesome.

Red State is in full support of Ted Cruz and has been for some time.
So, Ted Cruz is being deceitful and Trump is correct to point a finger at Cruz.
Once again.. fact-free hyperbole. Bring the manufactured outrage down a thousand.. take a deep breath.. and find me a link that shows the Cruz campaign is OK with "shaming" candidate's wives. And please... don't insult anyone's intelligence by trying to link that PAC with Cruz' campaign.
There is no fake outrage - Trump simply said that if Cruz-supporting PACs are going to smear his wife then Heidi is fair game too. He warned of it to give a chance for Cruz to call off the dogs which Cruz can clearly do. Trump doesn’t have PACs providing cover for him so if they go after his wife he will fight back.

OK over the years I have found your posts well put and well thought out, but I will put it in another way for you.
The PAC is anti Trump and for cruz and therefore you know as well as I do that cruz could denounce any AD and he has not.
Trump has not attacked cruz;s wife he said he would if more attacks occur FACT.
cruz can end this nonsense right now by denouncing such a vile AD, he has not FACT.
Do you go to Mormon hell for saying that about Cruz? I can’t keep up with all these terms in hell I have to serve now for voting for the guy of my choice.

This is really no different than Cruz’s smear on what “may” be in Trump’s taxes. And that came directly from Lyin Ted Cruz’s lips. Given that Cruz really isn’t a position to take the high road on this one. He’s been in the gutter with his pals Romney, Beck and Neil Bush for months.
Trump should be careful about that, as the attack on Melania came from an independent PAC and did NOT come from Cruz or his campaign. The Trumpettes and their candidate seem unable to make that distinction.

Rafael Cruz: “A candidate is responsible for the culture of the campaign.” That Cruz does not disavow this smear on Trump’s wife is all we need to know about his principles and conservatism. He has none.
So let's recap.. some writers at RedState support Cruz, Ben Howe of MAA opposes Trump, and thus Cruz is guilty for MAA's ad about Melania Trump.

I think we all know unless one is naïve that the campaigns do talk to PAC;’s even though it is illegal.
Saying that I will give him the benefit of the doubt like so much as I think cruz has some sleazy people working for him and not telling cruz everything.
Trump can ask cruz to denounce this PAC or at least this AD and cruz should denounce it in public.
That is what should have happened.
Nobody buys that the PACs do not have anything to do with the campaigns they are helping. Besides, Cruz could agree that both wives are off limits and state such and I guarantee the PACs would stop. Don’t pretend to be naive you are smarter than that.
Cruz is hiding behind PACs like all politicians do. Trump has only himself. If faceless PACS smear his wife then he will return fire.
Personally I don’t care. Let them rip. Let’s see - Melania is super hot who posed for provocative pics vs. a globalist suicidal shill with big bank ties, and a lying cheating hubby who visit whores while pretending to be Christian. Air it all out and let the voters decide. Or not. Nothing is going to help Cruz anyway he is merely playing blocker for the GOPe at this point.
