A 15-year-old boy was killed when he was struck in the head while playing a game of "dodging arrows" at a friend's house, and criminal charges could be possible, authorities said Monday.
Caleb Fairchild, an eighth-grader, was playing the bow-and-arrow game Saturday evening when he was hit by an arrow in in Chapmanville, about 45 miles south of Charleston, West Virginia State Police spokesman Lt. Michael Baylous said.

I guess he lost......................
There might be more to this. Could someone have been trying to kill him?
Hitchhiking and picking up the same was nothing special.
We took a canoe out on a flooding river, got stranded on some trees in the raging water only to be rescued by the local fire Dept after they shut off the Damn that was up stream.
Stupid.
Driving 120 on country roads?
Well, that’s pretty fast unless you know the road and your abilities. But I suppose that is what this is all about. Testing the limits.
Throwing C02 cartridges into a campfire was where I drew the line.
And you’ve NEVER done anything foolhardy, I guess.
My opinion is that you appear to be a heartless individual. For that, you have my pity.
It is no difference if the kid took his face and pressed it down on a hot frying pan. I know 6 year olds hip to the fact an arrow will kill you. Im sorry society has dumbed down that much. But Ive learned to enjoy the show.
short list for darwin award.
Dodging arrows? What could possibly go wrong?
I had not thought of that but it is something to consider.
Yeah but it’s not like losing a chess game.
Here’s your sign!
We had a girl...coach’s daughter ...get hit in the forehead with a javelin. No harm done.
Almost Russian roulette, but not quite.
BFL !
Kid had AC10
Orc rolls natural 20
3x damage
Kid fails saving throw and dies
PCs divvy up loot and head to level 5
There has to be more to that story.
She was a bit on the stout side, but that’s about it. Just lucky she wasn’t hit in the eye.
Getting hit by a javelin would be about the same as being hit by an arrow. The javelin is slower but far heavier.
Having messed around with them for several years, if it actually hit someone in the head, it would almost certainly kill them.
Wrong.
OK if you say so.
“When we practiced, another guy and I would throw back and forth on the football field. There was really no chance of getting hit. If the javelin was heading toward you, all you had to do was walk out of the way.
Now arrows would have been insane.”

In boy scouts, we ran a week-long summer camp for cub scouts. Setting up the weekend before, a buddy and I shot an arrow (the blunt-tipped type) out into a large field, to see who could arch the shot and make the arrow land closest to center.
I shot, he went out and got the arrow, then launched it back. We started shooting it back and forth across the field.
Soon other scouts showed up and joined in. Pretty soon we had about a dozen people involved.
Shortly thereafter the scout master arrived. He just about lost his mind. haha
