And people wonder why Trump is so popular!
Rooster, I guess Moore hasn’t heard yet they don’t care about the voters !
One could say it was genius move on Trump’s part but he just simply tapped into a huge reservoir that was being ignored and marginalized. Simple Business Success 101— find a need that people want and supply it.
Open trade is a new issue for conservatives to rethink, so I can disagree with conservatives over it while respecting them ...
A perpetual Howdy-Doody trade policy invites corruption.
If we don’t negotiate tooth-and-nail to cut other countries’ tariffs and to keep US manufacturing from moving overseas, we flag in foreign lobbyists to bring in walking around money to bribe our elected officials.
Such as ...
The Clintons
Hillary’s emails reveal that they’ve been cutting the same kind of sleezy deals [even with terrorists] that were documented by the book, “Year of the Rat” [Chinagate] during Bill Clinton’s administration.
That is why so many statists embrace Howdy-Doody trade — lots and lots of ways to get your palm greased.
“He will lose MANY HIGHBROW Republicans?” Frankly that sounds like a win-win situation.
THEY are why we are in this situation today.
This is only the 2nd half of a very good article/analysis.
Trump is perceived as an “America First” guy. I get that. I believe he thinks that, as do his supporters.
And preferring America would be a big change for our Establishment. They only like America in so far as they can rape her for cash and power.
The big question is, what would Trump do with an “America First” mandate?
Other than possibly a wall, I really can’t tell, since he has been on both sides of every issue of which I’m aware, sometimes on the same day.
That isn’t to say we oughtn’t elect him. We should. We just can’t be sure of what we’re really getting, policy wise.
Perspective, wise, though, we do get someone who would actively try to be pro-American. That’s a big change. I’ll take it. I’m just not holding out for any particular ideological program.
Aside from Trade, Stephen Moore is a Liberal Democrat with these positions. Good riddance.
This is an excellent op ed.
Trump is winning over tons of people!!!!!!
Moore is outstanding. I love how he not only embraces Trumpism, but, he seems to very subtly embrace the possibility of thinking about new policies....
America first.
We get that right, then we can have a meaningful conversation about important policies without the democrats, and without the GOPe. That’s the goal.
Post #9 (Arthur Wildfire) used the label “Howdy Doody”
To complete the picture image, let’s not forget “Howdy” was a puppet (strings and all) Captain BO’B, the master of ceremonies would always ask the Peanut Gallery “Hey, Gang. What time is it?”
If the gang doesn’t get it right this time, will we be eaten like a bag of nuts?
Voters are not nuts and though we might not know every nuance regarding trade, we still think we know a good thing when we see it. What we’ve had ‘making deals’ in the past is not working. We’re giving away the farm Not only in ‘trade’ but in our ability to solve problems as well.
We have permitted our ‘leaders’ to tell US what to do, how to do it, when to do it and how many times it will be done. Voters, so accustomed to the continuity of life continue to plod through the years and slowly become the ‘puppet’
Our country is not a baseball card found in a box of Wheaties.
WARNING: comments: made before the first sip of caffeine.
Stephen Moore nails it.
Stevie sounds like he’s starring in one of those hostage videos...do you think his eyes were blinking in code when he wrote “Maybe that wouldn’t be such a bad thing?”
