Honestly, I think we are both wasting our time. Once you get like this person, more interested in winning an argument than in making sense or being factually correct, there’s nothing else to be gained.

The positive thing is that we don’t have to worry about any economic competition from that front. The sad thing is, he probably votes...

Before the 1850s, 95% of the federal budget was paid by tariffs. By 1865, just 25% of the budget was paid by tariffs. By 1945 this dropped to 1% or so at a less than 10% tariff and has stayed there since.

You said by 1865 it was down to 25%. Then you jumped to 1945. You cherry picked the data grabbing the low point to make you disingenuous point. BusTED.
