Before the 1850s, 95% of the federal budget was paid by tariffs. By 1865, just 25% of the budget was paid by tariffs. By 1945 this dropped to 1% or so at a less than 10% tariff and has stayed there since.

You said by 1865 it was down to 25%. Then you jumped to 1945. You cherry picked the data grabbing the low point to make you disingenuous point. BusTED.

I didn't cherry pick. It jumped around and in 1865 or so it hit 25%. Later it hit less then 25%, then later it hit less than 1%. What's your problem?
