Kristol and the gang are considering running a third-party candidate against him to split the vote, ensure that Hillary Clinton wins, and keep control of the party that is slipping out of their grasp.
It's all about control of the party. FUBK!
...and they made Trump sign a document saying he wouldn’t run third party.
Kristol needs to buy a clue.

My theory is if we keep calling people's most ardently felt hopes for their country fascist then they'll drop them because fascism is grody.

It had its ups and downs, yeah, but the Rubio campaign was yet another project that I was wildly successful in getting paid to consult for.

If you accuse someone of woman-abuse enough, then you can describe them as "dogged by accusations of woman-abuse" and it gets EXTRA serious.

For whatever reason my attacks on Trump as "vulgar" aren't resonating with the base. Maybe I should ratchet up to "plebeian" or "boorish."
Notice they are looking for retired politicians.
Somebody that won’t have to pay a price.
If they want to beat Trump why don’t they put up their best,
instead of retreads.
How do they “keep control” if they abandon the Party and run a rogue 3rd party candidate. If they bolt; they’re out!
What I don’t get is how they think they get back control of the party after they have broken with it, assuming they succeed in defeating Trump in November.
What’s John Anderson doing these days?
Bill Kristol even nuttier than Glenn Beck...
Kristol is a freakin’ idiot.
You must mean, “To keep control of the United States.”
There are two very different ways that they could do this — with a serious contender, or with a spoiler candidate.
A serious contender is a candidate who could win enough states that nobody gets a majority in the Electoral College, leaving the Presidency to be decided by the House of Representatives (which would presumably still be in Republican hands).
A spoiler candidate is someone who is not likely to win many states, if any. A spoiler candidate would just throw the election to Hillary.
I’m guessing that Tom Coburn or Rick Perry would probably be a spoiler candidate, not a serious contender. Tom Coburn is too socially conservative to be competitive in much of the country, even though he’s excellent on liberty and free-market economics. Rick Perry is perceived as a lightweight.
Very odd that the establishment would be courting Rick Perry when he was on camera with Cruz and Fiorina last night on Hannity’s show, backing Cruz pretty vocally.
The establishment is desperately fishing around, with Romney also coming out for Cruz. They are playing all their cards, trying to keep Trump under 1,237, trying to pull Cruz in, playing these 3rd Party games, and ultimately looking to override the will of the voters. This will end badly for them and I think signal many positive future changes for the GOP. Now let’s beat Hillary!
Next Kristol will be suggesting we bring back the Studebaker automobile.
Everyone ought find a shredder if the have a copy of Weekly Standard handy. Run it through the shredder, and mail it back to Kristol, personally.
They know full well that this will hand it to the DIMs ...they must be soundly defeated with overwhelming support for Trump ...
Kristol is all about the crusty pantsuit. Actually I find this more sickening than humorous.
Sorry... Tom Coburn has been dealing with serious health issues that last few years, and if Bill Kristol doesn’t know that he hasn’t been paying attention to the Senate, because everyone who’s been paying attention knows why Tom Coburn didn’t run for another term.
