At this point Cruz can either join Trump (assuming Trump invites him) or get left in the dust.

If it’s option #2 then he can go quietly, or he can do his best to help the liberal uniparty establishment get President Hillary elected like the rest of the neocons are bent on doing.

100%, it would be THE best.
POTUS contenders, by definition, MUST have the highest self confidence and self-regard. Look at all the garbage that gets flung at them.
It’s hard for them to imagine being #2. But I think the nation is going Trump. Cruz getting on board would be fantastic, if he could swallow his pride.

P.S. — How Sweet It Would Be For Cruz to be Mitch McConnel’s boss as President of the Senate.

Have long been hoping for Trump Cruz ticket.

Cruz would tone Trump down, knock some of the hard bark off of him.

Cruz would be a good understudy as VP, not treat the VPOTUS job as a "warm bucket of spit". He would be a solid POTUS candidate eventually.

Trump would man up Cruz a little bit too... teach him a little bit about finance and business.

I think all the ill will between the two can be patched up and cleaned up, likewise Cruz can patch it up with the GOPe and Senate.

I believe it would be the absolute best thing.

But Cruz is the one who has to first put down the hatchet and come to Trump to do it.

If he did, and if, when he did it, his delegates pushed Trump well over the top, then all of the past can be forgotten, and then these two men could do a LOT of good for our nation over the next (hopefully) 16 years.

IMHO, we need that kind of time frame and concerted effort to undo all the bad that has been done to the republic.

I hope and I pray they are both strong enough to do this for the good of the nation.

Even if the supporters united, I don’t know if Trump and Cruz would. As far as I’m concerned, either one or both are fine.

No.

It would mean that Cruz would have to take orders from Trump, and implement his agenda. How likely is that? And what do Cruz supporters think about a Cruz who is subservient to Trump?

Cruz is a constitutional lawyer and by all accounts a damned good one. The place for a man like that is on the Supreme Court, not as #2 in an adminstration that will demand extreme loyalty and which needs a VP with legislative experience.

Sure.

This > Trump wins, he’ll do whatever it takes, from bashing the media, to roughing up Bernie’s goons, we finally have an unapologetic fighter. All this name calling is nothing more than negative political name branding(Lying Ted). Not personal, look at Carson(The Molester), the’re now buds.

Plus the only viable way to win, now, is to not tick off 40% of the conservative base, Cruz voters. Throw em a bone, keep the base in the fold, win in a landslide, destroy the GoPe and in 8 years Ted’ll be the guy.

If Ted tries a different path, i.e. contested convention, his presidential future will resemble Huckabees’, and we’ll have 8 years of Clinton.

Geeezzz

Reading the 1st 75 post and still see Haters on both sides.

I am not a Trump Hater.

I see a huge turnout, benefiting all the down-ballot races, local, state & federal.

Cruz would add gravitas. It would make the GOPe heads explode. That, to me, is worth a lot.

I think it’s still too early for such a move but likely will need to be negotiated as the convention gets closer

Do I remember Trump saying something about a single term?

If the two could get their egos in check and mend some fences, I think it could work. A Trump/Cruz ticket would be easier for Cruz conservatives to swallow than a Trump/other ticket. Trump is older, and might not hang around for a second term, which sets up Cruz nicely for the next election.

That said, I think we should see how Cruz does without Rubio in the race before anointing Trump as the winner.

If cruise and Trump did that it would put a stake in the heart of the donor class which is actively running the political parties, not their voter bases.

Rafael E. Cruz . . .
I don’t care.
You can go by bike.
You can go on a Veep-Bike if you like.
If you like you can go in a new red hat.

This would probably be OK, but with some concerns.

The first issue is how he would function as the President of the Senate, having apparently burned bridges with many of its members, of both parties. It remains to be seen whether he would whip them into shape, or be faced with a revolt that would stymie the Trump agenda.

Assuming that a Trump/Cruz coalition is the strategy, what should be the tactics? Should Cruz announce the coalition and bow out of the race now, or stay in and let the coalition be announced at the convention? I could see the latter working best if Trump and Cruz can avoid blasting each other and concentrate on blasting the GOPe. This would set the stage. This also assumes the two can get their respective supporters to cease blasting each other.

I came to the same conclusion this morning. Trump/Cruz, while not 100% satisfying to all, prevents monkey business, honors the voters, and let’s us focus on defeating Hillary Clinton. It gives Cruz the requisite experience to have a clear front runner shot at the nomination after Trump retires and has a safeguard should a court rule against his NBC status without presidential jeopardy.
