Cruz: Responsibility in campaigns 'starts at the top'
The Hill ^ | 3/13/2016 | Rebecca Savransky

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said on Sunday that the protesters at rival Donald Trump's rallies are behaving "abusively and wrong," but added that it doesn't help when the GOP front-runner encourages violence.

"At the end of the day in any campaign, responsibility starts at the top," the Texas senator said on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday.

"And it is not beneficial when you have a presidential candidate like Donald Trump telling his supporters, 'Punch that guy in the face.' We ought to have a president who brings us together, who doesn't seek to divide us."

Cruz said on Sunday that the protesters at Trump's rallies don't have a right to "threaten violence."

He added that it's important a candidate show respect for the voters.

Ants may be mindless savage creatures but you're going to get more stings and attacks if you stir them up first. The fool who gets extra bites as a result of this activity does not get to complain about how the ants should have left him alone.

I despise the left and sometimes the bad part of me wants to go Pinochet on them and stack up their bodies like cord-wood. Then the rational part of me realizes that only gives them excuses for the irrational behavior they have and opens the way to civil war.

Good point... those living in glass houses should not throw stones.

Teddy-boy embracing a Leftist nostrum to try and damage an opponent.

Pathetic.

Adios, muchacho!

And yet. Someone has to put his foot down sometimes. You can’t forever be playing tiddlywinks with fire ants.

Liberals may admire their candidates for lying, but Conservatives don’t. Sorry Ted, you issue too many lies for my taste.

If Ted and little Marco were serious, they would be blasting the organized disruptive agitators at Chicago such as BLM LaRaza, Moveon.org, who staged the chaos through social media and the ISIS supporter who was stopped from storming the stage. Everything else is desperation.

I think you’re right. He like everyone else thought Trump would implode, but when Trump won South Carolina it threw a monkey wrench into Cruz’s southern firewall plan, and changed the whole dynamic of the race. If Cruz had won there he would of coasted to the nomination, but losing in South Carolina opened the floodgates to him losing in the entire south, a region he had to sweep. It made him vulnerable and he had to expose himself to get badly needed money from the Bush clan thereby taking off the mask of insurgency and the outsider image he was trying to fool people with.

And the tone of this thread proves Cruz is right.

In other words, give the thugs what they want so they will leave you alone. Half this nation is cowards, the other half of us are left to carry them as our burden.

I am a Cruz supporter but this is a huge mistake.

There is no moral equivalence or shared responsibility here.

The First Ammendment must be honored. Trump says harsh things, but it is the absolute right of every American to say harsh things.

The attempt this weekend to violently disrupt Trump rallies was an organized effort by moveon.org and many other democrat party allies. Violence is not acceptable, especially when that violence is aimed at denying others the right to free assembly.

Cruz, Kasich, Rubio and our party leaders need to stop this nonsense immediately and defend the right to free speech and free political assembly.

Clinton, Sanders and community-organizer Obama need to be forced to condemn the handiwork of their brown shirt allies.

This is why we don’t trust our elected Republican leaders. They betray basic principles in a heartbeat in order to curry favor with the media and cocktail party circuit.

Towards the end, it appeared to me that Jeb was INTENTIONALLY self-destructing, just to get this over with, as he knew he didn’t have a prayer.

I’m starting to wonder the same about Cruz. I don’t HOW ON EARTH a man with his brains and education CANNOT understand that disruptive behavior has NO PLACE in American politics.

Being a former supporter of Cruz (until Trump entered), it may be wishful thinking on my part, probably is, but maybe Cruz was given orders to play-up to the GOPe or else his Senate career would end...and Cruz simply said: “Fine, if that’s what you want”, knowing full well that his Presidential ambitions terminate by doing that. Maybe Cruz also didn’t want to be the person that did the dirty work for the GOPe, which was to take out Trump, so that the convention could be brokered, thereby giving Romney or Jeb the nomination...so Cruz instead decides to simply collapse.

Otherwise I’m a TOTAL LOSS here. It’s been nearly 48 hours since Cruz first blamed Trump for Chicago, HE CANNOT BE THAT DEAF to know how angry his supporters are. Why else would double-down?

He should take his own advice and stick to his principles rather than selling out to the Bushes and the GOPe.

He lost that high ground when he climbed in bed with Goldman Sachs. We trusTED him and took his word that he is a conservative. Now the mask is off for all to see. He is a political whore and will do whatever it takes to get power, just like the rest of the establishment. He should be sued for false advertising.

Ted. You’re smarter than this. You know damned well that if you were the frontrunner, all of this “violence” would be happening at your rallies. It’s an America-hating, communist freeloader thing little buddy.

Does that include responsibility for lying to voters about other candidates?

Even as a Cruz supporter myself, I think Cruz should be rallying to support Trump’s free speech rights instead of saying he should give in to leftist bullying.

“And the tone of this thread proves Cruz is right.”

Right about what? That Trump DESERVES to have people literally ATTACK HIM at rallies?
