With his craven comments on Donald Trump in Chicago, Ted Cruz went over the line
The Star-Ledger ^ | 3/12/2016 | Paul Mulshine

The Ides of March was the Roman term for the 15th day of the month. This year it falls on Tuesday, which is the date of the Republican presidential primary elections in five states.

It was on the Ides of March, of course, that Julius Caesar was famously stabbed in the back.

Ted Cruz is trying a new twist on that these.

No, it was a typical legalistic/political statment designed to give comfort to the enemy and advance his own interests while at the same time “keeping his hands clean”.

To paraphrase a nork leader, you cruznadians are becoming more ronery after last night.

Cruz lost at least 20% of his supporters with his thick-headed words.

Here is the quote from the article, quoting Ted Cruz:

Here's what Cruz said about the violent protests that forced Donald Trump to call of[f] a rally in Chicago Friday night (see video below):

"Any candidate is responsible for the culture of a campaign. And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discord."

Cruz's blame-the-victim mentality is one more common to liberals. What the heck does "the culture of a campaign" have to do with a concerted effort by left-wingers to shut down a speaker?

I'll let someone else who's been dissecting the stools more closely tell us whether, as Ted charges, Donald Trump has been amping up his campaign by talking about knuckle sandwiches and what he'd like to do to this guy or that guy or that bunch of people who crashed one of his rallies to do Alinskyite guerrilla theater in Trump's venue.

Cruz has a whole thing about engaging by bringing the protesters to another level to see if they can beat you with their ideas (they can't -- sort of like penguins at an IPSC-sanctioned gun race or a WBA welterweight bout). Trump doesn't do that, he calls security like he would at the Trump Plaza, and the Alinskyites are primed for that.

That's what Cruz is talking about. (I might not want to do it his way myself .... )

But trust a New Jersey writer in a New Jersey publication to "misunderstand" Cruz right out of the primary race, by damning him to hell by association with the real malefactors of GOP politics.

Totally factual and responsible response by Cruz. The author of this piece is delusional or dishonest. Maybe both.

He's from New Jersey. I'll take "dishonest" for $400, Alex.

Cruz Kasich and Rubio all had ready responses that were almost identical. They were prepared. Like they knew in advance. Hmmmm ...

I have thought for several years that a guy in politics with a horrible voice, and who obviously is too proud and stubborn to DO SOMETHING about the voice, has a deeper problem.

I feel the same way about Sarah (but unlike Ted, her deeper problem is not disloyalty to the American people). I had hoped when she came back from her sabbatical that she would have become a more polished speaker, but she was even worse at Trump's rally. I love her and saw her live when she was running with McQueeg, and she was electrifying. But she got beat up bad, and has doubled down on the "Aw shucks" accent. It's a tragic waste of a talented conservative. Even Maggie Thatcher took voice instruction and had a grooming and wardrobe makeover in order to succeed.

No different than Rubio, or even Barry, for that matter.

I am no fan of Cruz. But that's taking it a little too far. Not that he wouldn't go there if he had been raised muslim, but...

Very big on facts. You should try it just this ONE time

Cruz is making a “Yes but”, defense.

Cruz is saying

Yes what was done was wrong BUT it is justified because the victim...

Anyone NOT welded at the hip to a candidate knows that is exactly what this is and will hold Cruz accountable

There was such an opportunity here for Cruz and he totally blew it.

Can you imagine what the result would of been if Cruz had come out and supported Trump and soundly castigated the media and the rioters? If he had made a full throated defense of the Constitutional principals of Free Speech and Free Assembly?

But instead he weaseled.

Take a look around the web, you can lie to yourselves all you wish, you will see the truth Tuesday. Cruz made a major error here.

Don’t project YOUR posting habits on everyone else.

IF Team Cruz had acted like adults, people would not of started punching backs. Since Sept Team Cruz thought these tactics of ad homin emotional attack were how they were going to win.

It was a massive massive mistake.

I started out with Carson. I been watch Team Cruz tactics around here. Don’t blame the Trump people for what YOU Cruz people started.

Here’s the deal Teddy boy - If you think these MoveON/BLM protesters aren’t gunning for you if you’re the nom you go another thing coming.

Exactly.

How shortsighted can a Republican candidate be, if he can't see this very same thing in his future if he wins the nomination.

Tin foil hat time! I truly believe this whole scenario - including the protesters gathering, Trump's reaction, and the Cruz/Rubio/Kasich statements - was scripted on Sea Island.

The only problem with the script, is that Trump didn't play along. Cruz/Rubio/Kasich vomited out their lines a bit too early, without first confirming the expected reaction from Trump.

Which was that Trump would brashly continue the rally, heedless of the violence happening all around.

But instead, Trump cancelled the rally before the GOPe's show could ever get started!

Teddy boy, a good leader always knows that a well-thought plan is just that - only a plan. When the plan actually hits the battlefield, it is likely a new or modified plan will be necessary.

But Teddy Bear Ted forgot this maxim of battle. And went ahead with his part of the "plan" without assessing the actual progress of the strategy on the battlefield.

This is obvious. Had Ted taken note that Trump was not playing along in the expected script, Cruz would have NEVER made his statement.

Now watch as Ted walks backwards all the way to San Angelo.
