Trump has encouraged his supportes to be violent.
His supporters, at his rallies, have responded by being violent.
Now, I am not going to say that this justifies the actions of the violent protesters in Chicago. Obviously they were breaking the law, and trying to suppress their political opposition through violence.
But Trump has been doing the same thing. It is a little late for Trump to be trying to stuff that Genie back into the bottle.

The down side of The Trump Carnival is that all the nasty tweets, all the childish personal attacks, all the pornographic language & imagery, all the man-handling and threats of physical harm to protesters, and all the racist comments lends to a very polarized environment...violence is one outcome!

If people don’t see Cruz as the unlikable, scumbag, sleeze that he is they will never see it. Anyone who is truly a conservative and holds to those values would be appalled at the left’s behavior last night, not blame Trump. Mr. Haney, go back to your country store and sell sour grapes.

I’ve let Cruz slide in a lot of things, but this one he jumped the shark. Texas I hope you remember this come his re-election time. I’m done with this piece of crap.
That means that nearly 1/4 of his followers, 277,000 or 23% to be precise, voluntarily abandoned him. That is quite a negative feedback and quite a story that one of his handlers will now need to explain to him ( wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall for that ).
Expect an obvious walking back of his opportunism shortly if he hasn't done it already.
BTW, the LAST thing Ted Cruz is is “opportunist.” He’s stood on principle his entire career.

When Trump stated that he would pay legal fees for supporters who punch protesters in the face, he opened the door for continued violent protests that will end in race riots in Cleveland this summer. No doubt about it.
