Cruz: Trump Is Manipulating 'Low-Information' Voters

Ted Cruz accused Republican front-runner Donald Trump of taking advantage of 'angry, low-information voters.'

“Listen, Donald does well with voters who have relatively low information, who are not that engaged and who are angry and they see him as an angry voice,” Cruz told “The Brody File” in an interview conducted Wednesday and published Thursday.

Cruz, who has racked up wins in Idaho, Maine and Kansas in the past week, said his campaign performs better among informed, engaged voters.

“When they inform themselves, they realize his record,” Cruz said. “He’s what they’re angry at. He is the corruption, and if you want someone to stand up to Washington, the only one who has been doing so in this race is me.”

The Texas senator acknowledged Trump has done well in Southeastern states — he’s won Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. But Cruz said his campaign has done well in that pocket of the country, too, often coming in second to the New York billionaire but still picking up delegates.

“Now Donald has a harder problem in the West,” Cruz said. “It’s interesting. I mean, his location, he does well in the Southeast. He does well with a certain demographic of voter. Donald gave a press conference where he said, to quote him, ‘I love the poorly educated.’” Cruz suggested Trump is “taking advantage of his voters because” they’re angry. “I understand what they’re angry about, but, Donald, if you’re angry at the corruption of Washington, you don’t solve it by supporting someone who has been enmeshed in the Washington corruption for 40 years,” he said.

I’m a Trump supporter and have NO fear or anger. I just think he is the best candidate for this country at this crucial time. The others, including St. Teddy Bear, Soccer Ball, Canadian, Cruz/Bush are elitists, who are all in for the NWO. Most of Trump’s supporters, at least on this forum, have done their due diligence in vetting all the candidates. Now, mind you, we don’t always agree with everything our candidate says and does, but, we will support him - unlike the Cruzbots, who bury their heads in the sand and refuse to see that Cruz is establishment. He alwayw was and always will be.

Yes. And Cruz’s vote FOR the Corker bill.

Iran is now developing nuclear weapons thanks to the Corker bill.

I have no issue with people supporting Trump or indeed anyone they care to support. I only object to the lying and sliming by Trump and those who do his dirty work.

The one thing our Founding Fathers could not foresee -- they were farmers, professional men, businessmen giving of their time and effort to an idea that became a country -- was a nation governed by professional politicians who had an interest in getting re-elected. They probably envisioned a fellow serving a couple of hitches and then eagerly looking forward to getting back to the farm.

Because Ted is a classy guy. Sure he is. Glenn Beck and other fruitcakes are endorsing him.

I can see why Cruz is so popular with the other senators.

Maybe this is why Trump says nobody likes him. Cruz has some good positions, but his self righteous bible thumping prose is a real turnoff.

You may be a highly informed voter. And I have no doubt of your intelligence.

Thus, you cannot deny the NUMEROUS Trump supporters who have claimed, ON THIS SITE, that they will no longer watch Fox, Levin, listen to Limbaugh, read RedState, Breitbart, National Review...the list goes on and on. Further, they will not engage in a discussion of philosophy and policy differences.

No, they’d rather excoriate the messenger and try to demonetize the source.

So, the question arises: If you don’t read anyone/listen to anyone that disagrees with you...and most don’t...doesn’t one’s pool of information begin to form a smaller and smaller pool? Until, one reads nothing from anyone that has said something negative about his candidate?

And that, I believe, would describe a low-information voter.

It’s called living in an echo chamber. Only reading/listening to those who agree.

What ever happened to “...iron sharpens iron...”?

So, like Romney was “correct” about the 47%, Cruz is right about low-information voters. I don’t believe he meant ALL of them; like Trump didn’t mean ALL Mexicans were rapists. But the general point stands.

And neither group liked being called that. I’m sure I’ll get all kinds of vitriol over this. But it didn’t make it any less accurate.
