It is going to be tough for Donald Trump‘s detractors to argue that he isn’t a conservative now.
Conservative author, activist and icon Phyllis Schlafly today in St. Louis gave her endorsement to Trump for president.
“I asked him to stand by the Republican platform because we have the best conservative platform we’ve ever had and he endorses it. He will stand by it. He is a real conservative and I ask you to support him,” she said to a raucous ovation.
“I’m confident that Donald Trump will appoint judges like (Antonin) Scalia,” she added.
Schlafly said that “we’ve been following the losers for so long,” but that would change with Trump.
“Now we’ve got a guy who’s gonna lead us to victory!” she said.
The endorsement came on the same day Dr. Ben Carson gave his support to the Republican presidential front-runner who, at this point, looks unstoppable.

Well, other than the fact that he has a long history of supporting liberal positions, liberal politicians, and liberal initiatives, that is.

Everybody knows Phyllis Schlafly is just a GOPe toadie.
That was sarcasm, for those of you in Rio Linda.

When it comes down to the warped opinions of you two Trump-haters, vs the opinion of Phyllis Schafly, you’re totally out of your league, Hell - you’re not even in the stadium.

So you know better than Phyllis Schafly AND Sarah Palin, eh?
That’s called being a ‘legend in your own mind’, compared to actually BEING a conservative legend.

Even his supporters say he’s not a Conservative and that Conservatives are the reason we are in the mess we’re in.

You define a person not by who endorses them but by who they are, what they believe, what they value, and how they act.

Phyllis Schlafly, Jeff Sessions, Sarah Palin, and Ben Carson are all closet liberals. A Cruz supporter told me so.
To: smoothsailing
So who going to be the first GOPe jackass to proclaim Phyllis “isn’t a true conservative?”

After this endorsement, the raucous Trump-haters need to be relegated to their own corner of FR. I don’t mind dissent, it’s fine and healthy for the community. But the snide hatred with the inability to be circumspect needs to go.
To: House Atreides
Once he’s selected, what will you do to make him a likely winner?
To: smoothsailing
Trump has Palin and Schlafly.
Cruz has Glenn Beck and Chuck Norris.
Oh wait---the Chuck Norris endorsement was another Lyin Ted political dirty trick, so scratch Chuck.

Well that is far above our pay grade FRiend, that sort of decision is reserved for our Esteemed Founder who has asked that the vitriol directed at our leading candidates AND at other FReepers be dialed back a notch. I have attempted to do exactly that, but when I see the Trump-hating goons serving up their bile as before, I'm going to respond appropriately and proportionally.
I cannot name but a mere handful of FReepers supporting Trump who have said they would not vote for Cruz if he somehow prevailed and won the nomination, but the vast majority of Cruz supporters have gone on the record to say they would *never* vote for Trump under any conditions.
Which means they are by default, supporting Hillary Rotten Criminal and her fellow 'RATS.

The Trump-Cruz dichotomy has produced an interesting split in terms of endorsements. I lean heavily toward Cruz if only because he has been in the arena and proven himself capable of maintaining principle even if it costs him friends inside Washington. Palin and Schlafly are nothing to sneeze at in terms of conservative bonafides, so I will refrain from expressing great disappointment.
The best part is how the GOPe now has the pleasure of choosing “the lesser of two evils,” and even then, the prospect of defeating Democrats appears good with anyone from the GOP roster on board.

One could make a case that it is a conservative thing to
(1) want your country to survive
(2) win
and that everything else, if these are not achieved, is useless window dressing.
Without a viable “We The People” how does anyone imagine that a “We The People” constitution is ever going to stick around? Trump is aiming for the heart of the matter.
