While Ted Cruz proudly proclaims he is an Evangelical Christian, his campaign takes pains to hide the truth that Cruz and his pastor father, Rafael Cruz are Pentecostal Christians, a fact further hidden by having Ted and Heidi Cruzs belong to the congregation of First Baptist Church, a Southern Baptist church in Houston, as their home church. Both Cruzs parents, his father Rafael a Cuban-born immigrant, and his mother Eleanor, born in Wilmington, Delaware, grew up in Catholic families. Both were among the millions of that left the Catholic Church since the 1960s to embrace Pentecostalism, a Christian movement estimated to make up 4.4 percent of the U.S. population, accounting for some 13 percent of evangelical churches in the United States. - See more at: http://eastorlandopost.com/ted-cruz-closet-pentecostal#sthash.M95M8HTV.dpuf

Yeah your right... not all Christians believe in that so lets GET 'EM!
I’ll take a secret pentacostal over a secret muslim or secret heathen anyday.
By that standard nobody is qualified.
“As if thats somehow... unacceptable?
Well, at least for a leftist.”
Indeed. Whenever anyone raises the religious unacceptably argument let them know of their bigotry. Tell them atheists don’t build hospitals.
I’ll take an honest Pentecostal over someone who worships at the altar of power & greed....any day.
Appalling should be appealing.
First Baptist is not Penecostal.
Not all Pentecostals are Seven Mountain and believe Cruz is anointed King.
I am a Catholic. All the protestant denominations seem kind of the same to me. Is belonging to a Pentecostal church a big deal?
Btw, I remember the poster that said Cruz reminded him of Peter Popoff.
Popoff speaks in tongues, too.
A Think Progress hit piece suitable for DU.
I was raised Southern Baptist and baptized in the church. I now attend a conservative version of the United Church of Christ. I have never considered myself to be anti-Pentecostal or anti-evangelical. Facts are facts. Cruz was born in Canada, and I find it strange that his father believes that Ted was called by God to be the president of the federal district of America.
[ As if thats somehow... unacceptable?

Ted Cruz doesn’t have warehouses full of bibles that people send him, obviously Ted Cruz isn’t a true religious christian...
( SARC )
I didn’t know who Peter Popoff was when that poster brought him up.
Here he is speaking in tongues

A Drudge headline is not a nothingburger.
I know I don’t get what the point of this is at all.
Obama claims to be a Christian too. So does Trump, and every other candidate. Being a Christian is one thing, claiming to be called by God, quite another. Agree?
[ How do you know Cruz doesnt tithe? Are you monitoring his income? ]
Some people give but don’t report it on their income tax
forms because they feel it is akin to bragging about tithing.
And some don’t report what they give because they don’t want to let the government have any more information than they absolutely have to.
So the assumption that people who don’t report tithing on taxes are not charitable is not always true.
