Cruz to land first Senate endorsement: Mike Lee
Politico ^ | 03/10/16 | Katie Glueck and Burgess Everett

Utah Sen. Mike Lee plans to endorse Ted Cruz Thursday, making him the first U.S. senator to back the Texas senator's presidential bid, sources told POLITICO.

In a blow to Marco Rubio, whose campaign is on life support as he seeks to avoid a knock-out blow in his home state Tuesday, Lee is expected to make the announcement in Rubio’s hometown of Miami ahead of Thursday night’s GOP debate.

-snip-

Lee is close with both senators, and he had resisted jumping into the race and potentially alienating one of them. He sat down with Rand Paul, Rubio and Cruz as the presidential campaign got underway one year ago and told them: “Look: I’m in an awkward spot because I’m really close to all three of you guys.”

“One of the weirdest things that can happen to a person is to have his three favorite co-workers all running for president of the United States at one time,” Lee said during a December interview. “It’s just weird.”

But that neutrality waned as Trump rose and Rubio faltered. With crucial primary votes in just five days, the chairman of the Senate GOP’s conservative Steering Committee still has a chance to make a difference in the race.

Cruz's campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Lee's office declined to comment.

I find it interesting that Cruz’s social conservative Evangicals don’t have a problem with Mitten’s Mormons Brigade trying to push Cruz over the line. The “I won’t vote for a Mormon” brigade has all but disappeared. I wonder why? LOL.

Part 1
Good for Mike.
Sounds like he told Marco of his plan personally.
If true it’s a solid gesture and a sign of character on Mike’s part.

Part 2
Im not here to trash any other candidate, but since you asked let me talk a little trash. IMLTHO he should have stayed with his first thought. He could come out swinging later in an interview and look better.

Pretty sure they agree that people who show up at a Trump rally just to make noise and hurl insults need to be thrown out.

Lee? Pfffft.

I have to admit. Teddy scored the endorsements to end all endorsements....Glenn Beck and Megan McCain!

Oooh Lee is obviously another RINO GOP elitist! /Trumpster

Lee supported doubling green cards and H1B visas, and also voted against Sessions, with Ted Cruz by his side, when Sessions tried to decrease legal immigration.

Mormon Mafia getting in line, with Mike Lee following Mitt Romney and Glenn Beck.

I can’t wait until Marie Osmond steps up!

And they still can’t figure out why Trump won the Evangelical votes.

Bud, if you can’t figure what what conspiring with Neal, Jeb, and Rubio means as far as GOPe insiders go, then go ahead and insult me all you like.

Did you see the photo or video of Rubio dancing?

As for Cruz, he’s throwing every accusation in the book at Trump right now, true, valid or not.

He’s now and insider with the Bush/Rubio team, and can only be seen as a GOPe go along.

You think I’m the problem.

Take a look at what Cruz has stooped to now.

I have no problem with Lee endorsing anyone he likes.

I have reasons for backing the person I do.

That's exactly the man we need in Washington....and adult in the room of children, not one that wants to "play" with them and perform for them as Trump does......but one who will lead rather than give them the candy they demand.

A personality cult is a general faith in the leader....whereas a considered judgment about a candidate is based on 'specific' facts about the candidate’s record and past performance......That's not what support for Trump is about.... Support for Trump is not about what a candidate has actually done. It's about how loudly and recklessly he's willing to break things.....and giving them the show they desire.

Ted Cruz locked horns with the Gopee and Demorat goats time and again and 'prevented' the passage of legislation which would have been bad for this nation....over and over he took the punches rather than go along to get along.

I'll take the man any day who's been in the trenches, listens to the people...does as he's promised....and is serious about turning this nation around to a Constitutional Republic.......rather than hand it over to someone who 'plays' to a crowd that wants to be entertained with theatric props and behavior to appeal to their feel good needs.........rather than hear uncomfortable truths.....

Did you watch the video?

The Club for Growth Election video was startling due to its “Join our team” advocacy to politicians.

Join our team if you want to win an election.

Quid pro quo.

We’ll see how worthless they wind up being in court.

Nobody forced them to fill those out favorably.
