Dear Republicans, It's Ted Cruz

DEAR REPUBLICANS, IT'S TED CRUZ

What is the rationale for Marco Rubio's candidacy?

The latest poll out from the classiest and most reliable Florida pollster, Quinnipiac University, says there is none.

After a week of disappointing elections for Rubio, the Florida Q Poll is the dagger to the heart of his presidential aspirations. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush can be happy that while his own bid failed, at least he killed the one his campaign staff called "Judas." Enjoy Fisher Island.

The poll shows frontrunner Donald Trump doubling up Florida freshman Rubio with less than a week to go before the winner-take-all contest for 99 delegates. Coming after a disastrous election night it should be enough to send Rubio packing.

The only argument for Rubio's continued candidacy was the "Romney Plan" in which voters should support any candidate in any race that can beat Donald Trump or deny him delegates. It worked pretty well in Michigan where Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas and Ohio Gov. John Kasich soaked up the majority of delegates with their tie for second place behind Trump....

“You have it backwards, he paid to own the establishment. It doesn’t own him.”

So he was exactly who Trump supporters claim to hate. Oh the irony.

Yes, and I should have used a snark tag shouldn’t I.

Nobody dreads Cruz but all of his “friends”, acquaintances, colleagues, and by all appearances, sadly, his daughters. Poor things. They have been so tired and resentful at these midnight hours (EST) after being drug around to Daddy’s droning on speechifying events.

“It’s fairly obvious after the 2014 mid-term elections when the Republicans controlled BOTH the House and Senate, yet, NOTHING CHANGED.”

Right. They actually passed the omnibus spending bill, which had more spending and more debt, and was worse than ANY democrat spending bill congress ever passed.

You wouldn’t have learned anything about Trump by watching politics; he’s not a politician. Thank God!

I’ve learned plenty about him by actually listening to what he’s saying though.

I don’t hate people that use legal means to succeed. I hate the people that sell out their constituents.

“Don’t forget the BIG one....NEW YORK STATE! “

Right. The dems already have 250 electoral votes (270 to win) and Ted Cruz has NO CHANCE of taking away any blue states from Hitlery. NONE.

Trump does.

The Trump supporters have some strange logic. A month ago, Cruz had no friends and was unelectable because none of his peers could stand him. Now, because some establishment types seem to believe that Cruz has a better chance in the general, he is some secret GOPe agent.

The establishment is simply trying to avoid what they feel will be losses in the general election - and damage to the GOP “brand” - if Trump is the nominee. It’s pretty simple. I’m not sure they even believe either of them can actually win. But they appear to be starting to go Cruz to mitigate damage.

The strange thing is that I am not sure their premise is correct. I know some head to head polls show Trump losing to Hillary, but the same polls have Bernie winning against everyone. I don’t really buy the Bernie scores, so I can’t simply take the scores convenient to the candidate I prefer. I tend to think Trump might do well against he in the General Election, especially once he makes his inevitable move to the left.

The obvious thing nobody seems to want to come to terms with is that although Republicans can win with an non-establishment candidate, we cannot win with a candidate the establishment will not vote for. Just like Romney didn’t win without a whole lot of conservative folks that had voted for McCain but didn’t show up for him, neither Cruz nor Trump can win without at least some support of moderate Republican-leaning voters. I REALLY WISH THAT WEREN’T TRUE, but it is. We need them until the majority of voters are Constitutionalist conservatives... and they certainly are not.

So in the end, both Cruz and Trump will have to take some folks onto their team that settle the establishment types a bit. It’s just a matter of when. I don’t like typing it any more than others like reading it, but both will have to try to expand their base without losing who they are. It’s just easier for Trump, since he can be whatever is necessary.

I don’t either. I hate people who criticize others for doing the exact same thing they are doing themselves.

I live in Texas and voted for Cruz for Senate. I wonder if he would have been elected if people had known he was a Canadian citizen or that his wife was an exec for GS?

There were plenty of other good candidates running in the primary that would have been preferable like Tom Leppert.

I see now that Ted had his eye on the POTUS all the time. His “outsider” schtick was a ruse to make him look “conservative.” I will never vote for “Moral Oral” again. He is a phoney. Tired of Harvard Ivy Leaguers selling us down the river.

Are you sure that calling McConnell a liar wasn’t a cover for his votes? A convenient excuse?

Me too. I went back and listened to his speeches and read his interviews. I went back to interviews from 1988 through to most of his rallies.

I came away impressed that he is an honest and sincere, hardworking man who loves his country and cares about people. He is in an industry that needs to work with all comers, with the city and Government officials. He got things done, fell down from time to time and got back up. Was honest to a fault and fought to defend himself without quarter. He gave to charities, individuals and to NYC of his money, his effort and his concern. He tried to warn America about Bin Laden, about the economic pits developing.

Trump is the original WYSIWYG candidate. His word is his bond and he has made good on his promises. He will do the same for America.

When he reorganized his businesses he gave up his shares to get the deals done so the businesses would survive. He is a man like any other, good and flawed but he is a fighter and an honorable capable man who stands alone as someone who can make America his only priority.

Cruz can’t even win the South.

Trump leads in crossovers voters. He leads among Independents and Democrat crossovers.

The all out nuclear attack on Trump should tell you Trump is the guy they fear.

Besides the DNC along with GOPe have promissed to shop a federal judge that will disqualify Cruz. That way the GOPe can have their brokered convention.
