A new poll by Rasmussen Reports conducted on March 6 and 7 shows that if Donald Trump is denied the GOP nomination for presidential candidate, he could run as a third-party candidate with much of his base intact.
Among Republican voters, 36% say they are "likely" to vote for Trump if he runs as a third-party presidential candidate – and 24% of all GOP voters are "very likely" to give Trump their vote if he chooses a third-party route.
The survey results add further support to the view that the anti-Trump scorched earth policy underway by the GOP establishment and its allies in the conservative media will backfire on two fronts: (1) it will guarantee a Hillary Clinton victory in the general election, and (2) a substantial portion of the GOP base will be lost indefinitely for future elections after frustrated voters realize that their participation in the primary process was so vehemently fought against by an entrenched Republican bureaucracy and suite of media pundits so insensitive to the base's concerns over the country's direction.

I would love to see Trump go third party. It would make the upcoming annihilation of the GOPe-led Republican Party in November even more massive!!!
The GOPe intends to lose the White House; they want to keep congress, they are fighting for their family members who are lodged throughout government and working as lobbyists. They know a (R) in the White House most likely means fickle voters will eject the GOPe majorities in one if not both houses.
Their control of the party is built along the same lines: Hold the House and the Senate.
You can see their fingers everywhere, grooming federal candidates while abandoning executive branch campaigns even for minor offices.
Worse, most likely with Trump, a lot of the third cousins of the speaker or whomever is currently sharing a bed with the speaker's chief of staff will likely get fired without the slightest consideration as to who they are friends with.
So to correct your statement, they don't care who wins the White House, so long as it isn't an (R).
Oh, don’t worry. If they stole the nomination from Trump (not to say Cruz could not win it). I for one would never vote republican again.
RE: he will run 3rd party and there aint no way any Repub is going to beat Hillary if that happens.
We will essentially see a repeat of 1992, with another Clinton as President.

Hello President Hillary Clinton. Hello Supreme Court Justice Eric Holder.
Something to consider if the GOP-E pursues its dream of a brokered convention with Mitt or some other GOP-E stalking horse as the selected (rather than elected) nominee.
Today my wife and I became "independents" after being Republicans since 1980.
President Reagan was right, "We didn't leave the party, the party left us".
You like the ‘globalists’ that’s ok, just don’t come back whining when you find out your wrong....
GOPE doesn’t care. They would rather see Clinton win than allow a Trump presidency.
don’t know where you got that from my comment.
please explain.
No worse than a President Romney and Justices Roberts, Kennedy, Souter, and O’Connor.
Of course he would. We’ve been sticking with the GOP by default. The party is ending.
I plan on voting for Donald Trump even if he runs under the Great Pumpkin Party.
“Today my wife and I became “independents” after being Republicans since 1980.”
I bet you are from the South as am I, and found out what a disaster the Dems were after Carter in ‘76.
> “Why would Trump go third party? He signed a pledge and has said in his rallies, he will support the Republican ticket...”
Yes, and he is the frontrunner, and will be the frontrunner, so it follows that he will support the frontrunner=himself.
The way a 3rd party springs into existence (and they can most certainly and probably will win) is if the GOPe changes the rules for the Convention in a blatant attempt to deny Trump the nomination. Then it becomes clear he cannot support THEIR choice because he is the frontrunner and they are not supporting the frontrunner.
It’s likely that Trump wins regardless because he pulls in a large swath of the registered independents that now make up 42% of the electorate, yes 42%! He pulls in all the disaffected Perot blue collars and he pulls in the Reagan democrats (blue collar dems). He will do very well with Blacks and Hispanics. In terms of popular vote should easily top the popular votes of the dems and what’s left of the GOP.
A majority of the popular vote is not required for winning the White House. What is required are 270 electoral votes.
If Trump falls short of 270 electoral votes, then according to the 12th Amendment the House casts 50 votes (one for each state delegation), and 26+ are required to elect the President. If the House fails to cast at 26 votes, then it goes to the Senate where 100 votes are cast and 51 are needed to elect.
If it goes to the House and the state delegations follow the will of their constituents, then it takes only 26 states to put Donald Trump in the White House.
But the House is beyond corrupt, it is actually captured enormous financial interests (special interests), so the members care not about their constituents when they see they can live in splendor and high security for the rest of their lives. This is true. They will thwart their constituents because they have a golden parachute and they think that as years go by all will be forgotten except a few here and there that are sour grapes. These members are also more often than not separated from the communities of their origin and have lived as transplants in the Beltway region for so long that their lives are essentially permanent in their new surroundings. As long as the parachute is there, most members will do as they are told.
that would be awesome.
while we don’t necessarily need a great business man for the presidency. we absolutely need a great business man to help lead and organize a new conservative party.
Then I could care less about you....you get the government you deserve how stupid!!!
It needs to be a Trump/Cruz ticket. Otherwise a lot of Cruz people stay home. I think that is the only way out of the box.
You have to get 1237 delegates...there are no special rules for Donald Trump if he does not get 1237 he plays by the same rules as anyone else!!!
