Donald Trump leads native son Sen. Marco Rubio 45 – 22 percent among Florida likely Republican primary voters, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today, with 18 percent for Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and 8 percent for Ohio Gov. John Kasich. This compares to a 44 – 28 percent Trump lead over Rubio in a February 25 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University.

In Ohio, Gov. Kasich trails Trump 38 – 32 percent, compared to a 31 – 26 percent Trump lead February 23. Cruz has 16 percent, with 9 percent for Rubio.

Except both Florida and Ohio have had early voting, so there have been many votes cast for both Rubio and Kasich that can’t be uncast. Both Ohio and Florida are irrelevant to over performing polling numbers. 1% is as good as a 10% victory.

Looks like Kasich is likely to win Ohio and Rubio needs to drop out NOW!

Early voting certainly play a big dynamic in contests like this. It can change the field in unknown ways.

Has anyone heard anything from either Rubio or his campaign since last night’s shellacking?

You don’t need to fix a statement. My statement stands: If Rubio wants to run for Governor of Florida, he will drop out soon.

FTFY

Yes they are both winner take all and I think Illinois is too.

Nobody has to beat Trump. If Trump does not have a mandate he will have Cruz on his tail until the convention. Trump needs to get 50%, or at least very close to 50%. Cruz is within a hundred. So California going to Cruz is enough to sway this thing. Thats why Trump needs those WTA states before California. Ohio, New York, Florida, Illinois are really musts for Trump. If he doesn’t get them we are waiting for California. Cruz has too much money and too many delegates to leave this election early. Rubio is already toast.

I didn't fix anything; I just answered your question. As for Rubio I think his political career is dead, regardless of office.

Are both states closed-poll (must be registered in the party) or open-poll (you can vote in either repubbie or democrat) primaries?

What may happen is like what we saw in Iowa: Trump supporters cross party lines (from demo to repubbie) in the public at large that is being polled by telephone; but they don’t cross-over to the caucus or polling booth by changing parties ahead of time. So a closed poll primary helps Cruz (already an active, voting, caucus-going conservative voter most likely) or Rubio (a registered, republican-by-habit-voter already).

Good to see the GROPed party get steam-rolled!

A sitting Senator who can't muster much more than 20% of his own party's vote in a presidential primary in his own state is not what I call a prime candidate for that state's governorship.

Then again, Trump was wrong about one thing. Rubio doesn't need to get elected to dog catcher in Miami-Dade County, he can just get appointed as director of Animal Services for the county.

Even I thought Cruz would take the south, and was very surprised when he didn’t. I thought he had the bible belt by the book strings!

The mere fact that Trump is a ‘’yankee’’ and a NYer at that, and not a biblethumper, in days past, would be enough to loose him the election.

Different times, different mentality apparently. That could be a very good thing.

If zero did one thing right, it was to wake up an apathetic nation by making them very angry. And that’s the ONLY thing he did right.

If the polls are correct then where does Cruz go to get the nomination?

Seriously though. Where on earth can he win or does he know he can’t get it now and that is why he stated about his contested convention.

He has only won 3 primary election states, one being his own.
In his firewall he never won a county in some southern states.
In the swing state of VA he never won a county and came third.

Now if these polls are correct and I am not saying they are, then where does her go? H elooks screwed unless he keeps telling others t get out so he can have it.

His firewall was the south, but that was destroyed, then he said evangelicals, but that is destroyed. Now he si running on telling others to get out for his personal gain .

sad really he had a bright future if he had waited and not have been greedy.
