Trump Turns Victory Speech Into QVC Pitch: I Got Steaks, Wine And Mags!
TPM ^ | MARCH 8, 2016 | SARA JERDE

Seemingly wounded by Mitt Romney's critiques of his business acumen, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump put some of his Trump products on display for a national TV audience in what was supposed to be a victory press conference.

Trump spoke from the Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida after he was projected to win primaries in Michigan and Mississippi on Tuesday.

Romney questioned the success of Trump's businesses in a speech last week. But Trump rejected that notion, bringing his own steaks, water, and wine to his press conference in an attempt to prove himself.

"I have very successful companies," Trump said, knocking Romney's critiques. "He really shouldn't have done it. It wasn't becoming."

You wrote the word ‘Lord’ in your post.

I thought the name of the game these days was to be less politically correct and less easily offended by mere words, but I guess I’m wrong again.

The but-but-but crowd in the Republican party is the exact reason why we havent won anything in years. While people here are crying but but but those steaks were not his or but but but that magazine wasn’t real, Trump has already chalked it up as a win and has moved on to the next fight, and you know what? He’ll win that fight too. We have gotten hung up on the minutia for years and our opponents have been happy to let us do so.

LOL! "Wounded"? Really?

See, it is times like this when I really wish Trump would buy the media outlets that print crap like this just so he could fire the moronic scribblers who crank out this junk.

I checked further on your "Seven Mountain" claim against Cruz and in support of Trump and found this:

"Seven Mountains Advocate Declares That God Has Given Donald Trump 'An Anointing For The Mantle Of Government'"

As I support Trump, in addition to Cruz, do Trump a favor and don't post in support of him.

Don’t know anything about Beck, but Trump Magazine went under. He created a false impression at best by waving around his resort/hotel ad “magazine.” The original Trump Steaks and water (Trump Ice) are no longer available either.

I’m not willing to take any of these guys at face value, including Trump. Rubio regularly lies about immigration and amnesty. Cruz misleads about Goldman loans and calls the CFR names while his wife is part of it.

I don’t trust any of these men!

The steaks are on the menu in his restaurants. If only the media would "fact check" the accusations made by Mitt et al. against Trump...

The reprehensible backers of Romney’s speech and robocalls spent tens of millions of dollars falsely trashing Trumps businesses. If Trump spends zero dollars and 5 minutes defending his companies against the aforementioned attacks, It’s a sideshow, an infomercial, blah, blah, blah

"So no, Trump isn't creating any jobs by buying this stuff that any other consumer doesn't create. "

Sure he is.

IF Trump did not use his own companies to supply the needed water and food and wine, the businesses would buy them elsewhere.

Instead, they are purchased from a Trump business. That business uses other firms to private label or pack items, which are in turn sold to Trump ventures.

Yes, those are simply menu items and have nothing to do with his Trump Steak business. Trump Steaks were distributed by Sharper Image and haven’t been available in a long time. His product failed years ago, yet he’s trying to pretend that steaks he buys and sells in Trump-owned restaurants are the same thing when they are very different.

I don’t really care about the products.

Trump’s a businessman. If he sells a product that people buy, the business stays open.

Yeah, Virginia wines have not been know to be the most sought after. We used to grin when someone would tell us “local” wines were available.

Now NY is different, wines here have been pretty decent for a long while. Swedish Hill, for example, does a few really nice wines and a respectable everyday sparkling.

its minutia he has a magazine with his name on it....he has a restaurant (with his name on it btw) that has trump steaks as a menu item.....and he has bottled water with his name on it....sure you can get water name branded with your name and if you run for president you might want to do that but its minutia pure and simple, matters not in the grand scheme

but but but....why did we lose

See, you are splitting hairs - well, Trump did the same.

He can in fact claim that he does still sell Trump steak - it is offered only in his restaurants now, but he does sell them. He does still have a bottled water line, and although not on sale to the public IS offered for sale and supplied in room at all his properties. As to the wines - clearly can’t be argued. And the magazine? It IS a magazine, but not in distribution outside of his properties.

So, all of these items are still available, still branded.

“I hate to say it,”

Oh I’m sure you do. Go buy a microwave today branded by any number of companies. The box will say LG. Hanes manufactures shirts and shorts for dozens of other companies. Just a couple of examples of how it works today.

Trump ruled the day yesterday and he had every right to shove Mittens nose in the steamer mitt left on the living room carpet.

GO TRUMP!

Except that they're all gone. The Trump steaks weren't Trump steaks; that's gone out of business. These last night were actually from a company called Bush Brothers. There is no Trump Water anywhere outside of Trump properties or resorts; he pays to have bottled water labeled. Trump vodka is extinct. Trump Magazine is printed solely for use by his companies. And the Trump wine is actually from a vineyard his son Eric is associated with. So no, Trump isn't creating any jobs by buying this stuff that any other consumer doesn't create.

Yep. And I thought it was hysterical and sort of ironic that the stakes were from a company called Bush Brothers. You just can’t make that stuff up – No wait – Trump can. : ),

http://www.bush-brothers.com/index.html

As for those Trump Stakes that aren’t Trump Stakes but are Trump’s steaks since presumably he paid Bush Brothers for them and for the fact he had them pulled them out of the walk in cooler at his club, Trump Steaks were sold exclusively through Sharper Image in 2007 but quickly disappeared due to lack of interest/sales and similarly to Trump Vodka.

Trump Water is simply a private labeling arrangement for his properties. I could have .45 Long Colt water branded today.

It is from a bottled water company in Connecticut that sells bottled water and that you can order in bulk “with your own private label“:

http://www.villagespringswater.com/index.html

Heck the salon where I get my hair done gives their customers bottled water with the salon’s name and logo on the label.

The “magazine” – “Jewel of Palm Beach”, is an annually-produced pamphlet about his club in Palm Beach and only available at his Mar-A-Lago resort and properties in NYC. You won’t find it on any newsstand nor can you order a subscription.

As for Trump Wine? “Yes” and “No” on that one.

Trump Winery (formerly "Kluge Vineyard and Estate") is a Virginia winery situated on Trump Vineyard Estates in Charlottesville, VA. The vineyard was purchased by American business mogul Donald Trump in April 2011 and was officially opened in October 2011. President Eric Trump, Donald Trump's son, oversees everything from winemaking and marketing to global distribution and sales. Donald Trump no longer owns Trump Winery as he gave it to his son Eric.

Estate once priced at 100 Million Trump buys for a Song. He is smarter than Mittens.

Perhaps but you can’t say Trump is more ethical.

Trump bought the 1,300-acre vineyard and winery for a fraction of its original value. He was criticized for his unethical behavior during this acquisition. He began by buying the 200 acres surrounding the property for less than $500,000. He then placed "No Trespassing" signs around the property. This warded off potential buyers and gave Trump exclusive access to the property. This forced the property into foreclosure and gave Trump the opportunity to buy the land from Bank of America for $3.6 million, a small fraction of the property's real worth ($12M). Development and renovation of the property was given to Eric Trump, who also supervised the acquisition.

He basically cut a deal with the form owner, Patricia Kluge to screw the bank that held the mortgage on the property, by having Kluge and her son sell off parcels around the house and vineyards for a song including the driveway to the property and then posting no-trespassing signs and letting the lawns go to seed so other potential buyers would be frightened off.

It’s not minutia to me. All those business ventures failed and he’s trying to pretend they didn’t. He’s a liar. I care about integrity much more than winning.

I recognize I’m different from most. I know God is sovereign and in control. My job as a Christian believer is to do what is right, not support lesser evil, which he would certainly be against Hillary. My hope isn’t in a president or this nation, it’s in Christ.

Of all his successful ventures, it is stunning that he chose to use: one where he simply puts a new label on water bottles, one where he buys someone else’s steaks, a magazine that is only sold to his other actual successful ventures, and an exaggerated claim about his otherwise successful wine. WTH??
