Agree, we know this and yet Cruz has shown he has no appeal what so ever.

Why he keeps saying he can beat Clinton wen he can’t even get better tan 3rd place I a swing state is beyond me. He is making himself look foolish.

Neither Cruzers or the GOP care about that. I’ve seen chatter that some in the GOPe don’t care if Cruz gets the nom and loses because that will put conservatives in our place. We’re being played and Cruz is the patsy.

forget Crossover Appeal, Cruz doesn’t have Republican appeal... the majority of primary and caucus voters have overwhelmingly voted against him to date... He preaches to the Choir, and can’t reach the congregation.

Cruz has huge general election issues, I have zero confidence he can win a General election, and have said so since day one.

First term senator who’s basically best known as the guy who nearly caused the nation to default.... absolutely no charisma or charm... has zero X factor, and can easily be painted as the boogie man by the left. Yes, this should be R’s year to win if we put up Mickey Mouse, but the same was true in 2012, and see how that ended?

“You can’t win without democrats these days...”

That’s why 4 million conservatives stayed home on election day 2012. Mitt was supposed to be the “moderate” candidate with crossover appeal.

How did that work out for us?

Good point, ground_fog.
Another reason this election is so important (aside from Hillary potentially installing 4 SCOTUS judges) is she will open the floodgates of illegal immigration.
She will give MILLIONS of people a pathway towards voting...especially for the "give me free stuff" party here in our beloved country.
If that happens, the notion of being Republican/Conservative (not that they're the same...) is completely toast.

“Cruz has no crossover appeal. You can’t win without democrats these days..and Cruz won’t get them”

But Trump will?

With everything Trump says in an attempt to get the conservative vote, he’ll never appeal to the mushy middle.

At least Cruz is consistent and principled. Even people who don’t agree on all positions have to admire a man who says what he actually believes. Trump keeps twisting in the wind, “changing” and “softening” in a pathetic attempt to appeal to possible customers.

I'm afraid you are correct. A constitutional conservative would be my first choice. Philosophically, there is not much to argue with about Ted Cruz. Part of his problem is that he's not a "likeable" guy. Something about him makes people a tad repulsed.

As big a bully as Trump is, he does bring in a bigger crowd. I agree with Rush Limbaugh's assessment that a Trump presidency has a bigger upside than a down side. if only we could get him to follow that pesky Constitution...
