Cruz to Unveil Senate Endorsements This Week
National Review ^ | March 7, 2016 | Elaina Plott

Ted Cruz’s colleagues may loathe him, but they seem to have found somebody else they dislike more. With the prospect of Donald Trump’s nomination looming over the GOP, Cruz is set to unveil endorsements from more than four senators this week, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Until now, Cruz had failed to earn the endorsement of even a single Senate colleague, a fact Trump and other presidential rivals have been quick to use against the Texas freshman. But as many senators see Marco Rubio’s prospects dimming, some are beginning to make peace with Cruz, convinced that he’s the only candidate who can stop Trump. If Rubio can’t clinch his home state of Florida on March 15, yet more may come forward to back the devil they know.

The forthcoming endorsements are a sign that the members of the upper chamber are beginning to abandon their personal grievances in order to preserve the Republican party of old.

Congrats all Cruz supporters! Your guy is now the official GOPe candidate. All it took was a phone call to Lindsey Graham.

Serious question - if Cruz gets the White House, what do you think he’ll owe all his big money donors and the Establishment for their backing? You think Cruz will be able to take on the very Washington cartel he hopped into bed with?

You're right on all points, but especially about the Cruz phone call to Graham, Cruz must have told him he was ready to play and go along with whatever the GOP wants, just get him in front of Trump... Innuendo and Expediency - hallmarks of the Cruz campaign.

There is a real danger that the GOP-E will launch some suicide mission even bigger than getting McCain and Romney to throw the elections then.

The convention talk dates to when they thought the delegates would be much more split between multiple candidates. The MSM is just too stupid to realize what they’re looking at when they see delegate breakdowns.

If you don't mind and have the time could you explain this delegate stuff to me and also the suicide mission. I do not see this stuff clearly at all. Thanks!!

Endorsements from any fellow Senators will go against CRUZ.

People do not want the good old boy network anymore, They want rid of them.

Mike Lee already said that if Rubio were not in the race he’d endorse Cruz.

I wouldn’t call that much of an endorsement.

So Trump and his minions have been constantly repeating the line about Cruz being so unlikable that he couldn’t even get any of his fellow senators to endorse him. Now all we will hear from them is how these endorsements just “prove” that Cruz is really an “establishment” candidate.

Some people will find some way to criticize anything.

Trump gets Sessions, Cruz gets Graham.

I suspect Cruz will get Mike Lee and Ben Sasse...

You can’t run as an outsider if you are inside and your friends line up to support you.

So since Sessions endorsed Trump, that makes him an insider?

Your guy is now the official GOPe candidate.

Yes, because calling the Senate Majority Leader a liar on the floor of the senate is how all GOPe acolytes behave.

If Cruz Reagan gets the White House, what do you think he’ll owe all his big money donors and the Establishment for their backing? You think Cruz Reagan will be able to take on the very Washington cartel he hopped into bed with?

If this doesn’t convince Cruz is in bed with the gope and will do anything to win, nothing will. The fraud senators want to “preserve the republican party” and Cruz wants to help them. But they’re not interesting in preserving this country.

I’ve never in my life seen a party campaign so hard, and spend money, against a candidate running on their ticket.

They want to preserve the party? Nominating Cruz, or anyone, through fraud and dirty tricks will destroy the gop and I hope that happens. And once they’ve used Cruz and then dropped him “like a hot rock” he can stay with them as far as I’m concerned.

Rubio will endorse him after he drops out. Cruz has already endorsed Rubio.

What has taken Mike Lee so long? Is he afraid he’ll piss McCain and Graham off and they won’t like him anymore or something?

They’ll push STOP HILLARY until lots and lots of Cruz and Trump delegates switch votes to the gopE’s candidate.

What would you say about Trump if four senators from the establishment endorsed him? Personally, I’d say “It’s all been a trick.” But what would you say?

Probably will include Mike Lee, and possibly Rand Paul, just my hunch.

“Unfortunately, they’ll be branded as GOPe lackeys by the usual suspects here.”

You mean like how Sessions was branded a “Judas” by the usual Cruz people here?

Let me guess...”I never saw anyone say that!!!”, right?

” repeating the line about Cruz being so unlikable that he couldn’t even get any of his fellow senators to endorse him.”

The fact that they are only doing so because they hate Trump and want to use Cruz to stop him, is ignored by you....why?

So you can ease yourself into the loving embrace of the Gope Senate?

Yep, it’s the old Trump/Hillary “Heads I Win, Tails You Lose” coin. I haven’t heard any of the Senators say they thought Cruz is malleable, though.
