IN MEMORIAM: Trump, Palin, RNC react to Reagan's death
Joanne Drake, Mrs. Reagans representative, wrote in a statement: Mrs. Reagan will be buried at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, next to her husband, Ronald Wilson Reagan, who died on June 5, 2004. Prior to the funeral service, there will be an opportunity for members of the public to pay their respects at the Library.
Upon learning of Mrs. Reagans death, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin tweeted: Rest In Peace, Nancy Davis Reagan. Thank you for your service, and for sharing your life with America as you helped inspire our nation to believe we could be that shining city on a hill. God bless your legacy.
Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump commented, Nancy Reagan, the wife of a truly great president, was an amazing woman. She truly will be missed!
Reagan was born on July 6, 1921 as Anne Frances Robbins but called Nancy almost from birth. Following her mothers interest in acting, Reagan who took her beloved stepfathers surname of Davis as her own pursued a career as a professional actress.
Their relationship was described as the romance of a couple who have no vices. They were married on March 4, 1952 in a small private ceremony to avoid the press.
After serving two terms, the Reagans retired in 1989 to their home in Bel Air, California, where Mrs. Reagan devoted most of her time caring for an ailing Ronald, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimers disease in 1994.
The death of Ronald Reagan in 2004 ended what Charlton Heston called the greatest love affair in the history of the American presidency.

Definitely a classy lady. RIP, Mrs. Reagan
With Palin and Trump, I remember those Reagan years as the best America that I have ever experienced.
Met her once LONG ago. What a classy, sweet woman.
RIP.
I was really taken aback yesterday when the story became about the Reagan’s love for one another.
It has been so long since real, committed love has been a value that’s held up for honor in the real world.
I really did do a double take.
And then I was proud of Ronald Reagan all over again.
Amen FRiend, the 80's were a remarkable decade, definitely the best America I've seen in my lifetime.
They say your worldview begins with the year you were Born.
I was born in '88 when Reagan was President, so Nancy set the standard for First Ladies for me.
May She Rest in Peace.
Those years are all gone never to return again. With hard work and dedication we can get close, I hope.
May the angels sing her home
True words
President Reagan’s State Funeral was the most moving tribute to their love I’ve ever seen.
I was born in 1990 and to me the idea of a time when people were proud to be Americans seems almost like a fairy tale.
The Reagan years evoke to me Richard Burton singing about Camelot.
It’s true! It’s true! The crown has made it clear.
The climate must be perfect all the year.
A law was made a distant moon ago here:
July and August cannot be too hot.
And there’s a legal limit to the snow here
In Camelot.
The winter is forbidden till December
And exits March the second on the dot.
By order, summer lingers through September
In Camelot.
Camelot! Camelot!
I know it sounds a bit bizarre,
But in Camelot, Camelot
That’s how conditions are.
The rain may never fall till after sundown.
By eight, the morning fog must disappear.
In short, there’s simply not
A more congenial spot
For happily-ever-aftering than here
In Camelot.
Camelot! Camelot!
I know it gives a person pause,
But in Camelot, Camelot
Those are the legal laws.
The snow may never slush upon the hillside.
By nine p.m. the moonlight must appear.
In short, there’s simply not
A more congenial spot
For happily-ever-aftering than here
In Camelot.
“...I remember those Reagan years as the best America that I have ever experienced...”
You’re not alone there, brother...
I didn’t remember the Eisenhower years, but I stretch from there until now.
Like MeganC says, it was as close to “Camelot” as I’ve ever seen.
I still remember sitting in Math class in High School when the Principal announced over the intercom that the space shuttle had exploded. Then I remember them playing his speech as well. I’ve never heard a school so quiet. I was so sad and shocked and yet his voice was so soothing and calming.
I was born in ‘71 and I can’t say that about any other President.
Those of us that were kids back then could not have hoped for a better America.
Back then the only real problem kids faced was fought by simply asking us to “just say no”.
Today kids are being asked to say yes to every screwed up thing under the sun, and the first lady is depriving kids of lunch!
Agreed. It was uphill getting there, and has been downhill ever since.
Remember that song, My Future’s so Bright, I’ve got to wear Shades”.... Was a crazy song, but that’s how it was .... People who were smart and worked hard were looking forward to life and their bright futures ahead .... It was an amazing time for me to be young ... Glad I got to live and come of age during such a time. And my husband and I have had a great life .... Now everything we’ve worked for us being eroded by this ridiculous progressivism, liberalism and just plain nonsense that permeates our works today. I wish these kids would pull their heads out if their butts and realize there was a better way ....
Reagan was my first Presidential election. I was 19 that year, 1980.
I remember the disaster of Jimmy Carter, and being disgusted with him. Even at that young age.
The 80’s WERE a great decade, because we had a President who loved America, loved BEING American, and loved everything American.
And it showed.
“...voice was so soothing and calming...”
He had that quality for sure, and it was genuine.
One of the interesting things is that prior to Nancy, RR was a real rake. At one time, he was “dating” no fewer than NINE Hollywood starlets at one time.
