In the Kansas Republican caucus, very early returns have Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas in the lead. With 3 percent of the results in, Cruz has 53 percent of the vote, followed by Donald Trump with 21 percent, John Kasich with 15 percent, and Marco Rubio with 10 percent. The Kansas Republican Party released a statement earlier Saturday, saying turnout across the state was "incredible," with some locations reporting "four of five" times the number of voters who came out in 2012. Republicans are also caucusing today in Kentucky and Maine, and holding a primary in Louisiana.
Conflating Cruz with the GOPe is just ludicrous. Did you hear Cruz at CPAC, the place where conservatives go and Trump did not? Cruz stated that if there is a brokered convention, both he and Trump are the targets and if the GOPe tries to put in their pick of a candidate, there will be an uprising of the people.
he does better than Clinton in the same polling sites that have given trump a big edge in the primaries.
not sure how you explain that one away.
they are good polls. Nailed the primaries.
Those primaries are late enough that hopefully the tide will have turned decisively against Trump by then.
I unfortunately can’t imagine the northern states going for Cruz.
I’ve been wrong a lot. please let me be wrong again.
I agree as long as Rubio is shutout I am happy. Still dreaming that Cruz and Trump need each other to get the nomination with Trump at the top to draw in the Reagan democrats.

Both have strengths that would compliment each other.
Alaska went Cruz. It does not get more north than that.
I just looked it up. Republicans vote from 10 am to 2 pm.
You either love him or hate him, seems like no in between.
Bob Dole on Fox now trashing Cruz. He is speaking haltingly and says Cruz is too conservative. Ain’t no such thing, Bob.
You didn’t trust me? That’s ok. It is always good to check. But I am in Kansas. I know the times.
I do not know what is “too conservative” about Cruz in Bob Dole’s eyes. I can tell you I really resent his snotty words.
Apparently you are not aware of the backgrounds of the advisers Cruz hired to run his campaign. They are the best dirty trixters that ever came out of the establishment. Rove is a piker by comparison.
I personally know a lot of people who thought Bob Dole was too liberal. We voted for him anyway. I’m sorry. I am sure they are, too.
i guess we shall see.
but Alaska also goe repub for the WH usually.
the others, not so much.
I’ll be pulling for Cruz in NY on the 19th of April
Don’t get me wrong. While I hope Cruz wins more today, I am not expecting it. I just hope he does well enough to pick up lots of delegates.
respectful posts are always safe.
Good luck tonight.
hoping for more luck here though :)
For decades, KS had neither as both are expensive but once the legislature voted to resume with a Caucus, we knew it would never be an open primary or caucus!
Most Kansans don't want the vote opened to the opposite party to elect our candidates for us and it was always democRATs yelling for "non-partisan" elections!
It seems that, in Kansas anyway, GOP candidates are proud of which party they represent, while the democRAT candidates want to keep their party a secret!
you think Ted was really gonna quit if he lost Texas?
he said that but i don’t believe it.
i think it was a ploy to be able to tell Marco to drop out if he loses Florida. That’s fine with me :)
