Donald Trump released his health care plan Wednesday evening, finally detailing the way in which he would fulfill his campaign trail promise to repeal and replace Obamacare.
In a seven-point plan posted to his website and publicized by a tweet, Trump says he will do away with the individual health insurance mandate, as well as allow competition over states lines for health care plans, and block grant Medicaid to the states, allowing them to follow through on his prescription to "eliminate fraud, waste and abuse to preserve our precious resources."
The decision to go against the idea of an individual mandate is new for Trump, who told CNN during a February town hall before the South Carolina primary that he "likes the mandate" and that makes him "a little bit different" than other conservatives.
But Wednesday's plan outlines as the first point on the list: "Our elected representatives must eliminate the individual mandate. No person should be required to buy insurance unless he or she wants to."
He counters that, however, by saying individuals should be allowed to "fully deduct health insurance premium payments from their tax returns."
The third bullet point goes on to say that "we must make sure no one slips through the cracks simply because they cannot afford insurance" and that "we must review basic options for Medicaid and work with states to ensure that those who want healthcare coverage can have it."
Further, Trump ties illegal immigration to his healthcare plan, writing "providing healthcare to illegal immigrants costs us some $11 billion annually ... If we were to simply enforce the current immigration laws and restrict the unbridled granting of visas to this country,

Levity is my specialty, and business is good. :)
Apparently some need me to paint a picture. Here:

Cool. It didn’t make it to the proposal stage.

Glaring omission? So if it did give you coverage for Pre-existing condition, would you support this plan?

I am a lawyer and if you plan on meeting in the middle, you have to stake out a position as far from where you want to end up as possible. So I don’t believe Trump is serious when he makes promises. He is staking out right wing positions so he can meet in the middle when he deals with Pelosi and friends.
Trump is a salesman. As long as you know that what he is promising is not going to come about, then you can vote for him and not be disappointed when he takes a hard left turn. But I truly believe that he is going to be a Yuge disappointment to everyone on this forum.
I could be wrong. But I don’t think so. History repeats itself, and Trump’s history is not a conservative one.

Trump on many occasions has emphasised the point that pre existing conditions must be covered. However, It’s not in his plan.

Those who pride themselves as so intelligent often dont grasp simplicity. Ha! Yes. While there is very often a place for complexity and high logic, sometimes it fails. The last "S" in "KISS" is not directed at someone who performs poorly on an IQ test.
Of course, as too often seen here on FR, your statement could be reworded: "Those who pride themselves as so intelligent often dont grasp their own arrogance." If one tries to even gently point out to an arrogant person that they may be taken that way, they will just double down on it.

Cool. It didnt make it to the proposal stage. Indeed. Without a mandate, it can't be done. It would not be economically feasible, so it's not in the plan.
If Ted Cruz had pulled a bait and switch like that everyone here would call him a liar and a fraud. But they do that anyway, even when he tells the Truth.

Trump has successfully negotiated big deals for many years. Even wrote a best selling book on it several decades ago. He’s planning on negotiating the best deals possible for America. And he is a great salesman and he is selling the deal and dong a great job of it. Won’t be a bit surprised if he sells a majority of the voters on the concept that America can be great again, and won’t be surprised if he gets that done, too. On time and under budget for a change.
And he is a whole lot more conservative than you think he is. Everything about his immigration, tax, trade and repeal of Obamacare proposals are just about as conservative as you can get (and still get elected).

I had a pre-existing condition (debilitating migraines) for decades. I was never once refused coverage. It all depends on the condition. Trust me, I've been-there-done-that. :-/

Everything about his immigration, tax, trade and repeal of Obamacare proposals are just about as conservative as you can get (and still get elected). But he is staking out these positions in order to win the GOP nomination. Once he gets that, I predict he will take a hard left and stake out a whole new set of positions in order to appeal to the liberals and the takers.
I could be wrong. I've been wrong before, but he is the only candidate in this race who gave $250,000 to the Clinton Foundation and the only candidate to say that Planned Parenthood does a lot of great things.
I don't trust him. He has never given me a reason to do so.

You asked how Trump or Federal Government could force states to open their borders for all qualifying insurance companies. My answer is the Commerce Clause of the Constitution. Perhaps you just forgot.

Portability of insurance should also be a part of any healthcare reform. I don’t know if laws need to be enacted to enable that or not. I didn’t see it mentioned in Trump’s 7 points, but I did hear Trump say he agreed with the concept when asked about it by Hannity last week.

Why would Trump have to deal with Pelosi & friends if he has a Republican Congress?
If any of Trump’s lines are “throwaways”, I’d think it’d be that one. But maybe someone should ask him...
