HARRY REID: GOP Not Budging On SCOTUS Nomination, “Will Wait And See What President Trump Will Do”

Senate leaders met with Barack Obama on Tuesday to discuss the vacancy on the Supreme Court after Justice Scalia’s death.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley stuck to their position that the next president should fill the vacancy.

Also in the meeting was Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who summed things up this way: "No meeting, no hearing, no vote. Pretty stunning. So maybe they're going to wait and see what President Trump's going to do, who he wants to nominate. Maybe that's their wish."

He say’s that like it’s a bad thing. Trump will consult with people like Sessions and actually use the advise part of the advise and consent.

Funny how HARRY REID stopped republican initiated bills when he ruled the Senate.

I don’t see why the GOP would even consider caving on this. I doubt this has any impact on the Presidential election in terms of motivating Dems to turn out.

Caving will torque off the Republican base. Outside roughly 20% of Dems, they don’t even know what the Supreme Court is ... All they care about is the free stuff. They won’t be motivated to vote soley on this “obstruction” that is all of the sudden unique to Republicans.

The Dems don’t seem to be doing well with Independents ... the GOP doesn’t have to do any pandering there.

For all I know, he could nominate Cruz to be up there. As for his sister? No matter how good, it would show bad judgement in political optics.

Nobody has ever been closer than JFK as Pres and RFK as AG.

I thought Reid was leaving the Senate at the end of this Congress?

No, the implication is that Mitch McConnell thinks Trump will win.

If he thought that Hillary would win, he would take the moderate republican that Obama will nominate this year, as opposed to the radical lib that Hillary would nominate if she won the election.

So Reid is assuming Trump will defeat Hillary?

Under the 20th Amendment, the new Senate will be sworn in on January 3 and the new President will not be sworn in until January 20.

That means that regardless of who wins the Presidential election, if the Democrats retake the Senate then Senate Majority Leader Chuckie Schumer will have over two weeks to easily confirm every single Obama nominee, from Supreme Court down to the district courts.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

I hope they do hold fast, but it’s not what I expect to happen.

There are at least 14 Vichy Republicans who want to confirm Obama’s latest leftist to the Supreme Court.

Boy, I bet that pissed Hillary off!
