The Massachusetts Secretary of State sent a gentle reminder to Hillary Clintons camp today neither former President Bill Clinton, nor anyone else, can campaign at the polls today.
We received some complaints that he was campaigning, and the office reminded the campaign that state law prohibits campaigning within 150 feet of a polling place, said Brian McNiff, spokesman for Secretary of the Commonwealth, William F. Galvin.
The former president was on the road today in the Bay State, shaking hands at polls at several stops. However, no evidence was presented that he was actively campaigning at the polls, and just being there isnt enough to run afoul of Massachusetts election laws.
Going into a polling place to shake hands, thats not considered campaigning, McNiff said. There was a big crowd around when he did come, and I think people were upset at that. But campaigning is not simply being in the place.
Bill Clinton was in West Roxbury, Newton and New Bedford today.
McNiff added that there have been no similar complaints levied against other campaigns.
One concern is that simply having the former president husband of the Democratic frontrunner on scene would be a de facto campaign sign, but McNiff said state law doesnt get into those particulars.
I dont think thats spelled out in the law, he said. People might have various opinions on that, but as long as hes not campaigning and is just shaking hands like candidates do, its not a problem.
Rules are for other people, not Clintons.
Warnings for Demonicraps, jail for Republicans.
So yet again the Clintons break the law and get away with it again and there are some on here , mind only a handful who say they will stay at home in a bay tantrum if their guy doe snot win , because the winner is no better than the Clintons.
Even they are subject to some rules like, “Don’t crap where you eat.” I think they did that in MA yesterday.
So, what difference at this point, does it make? Is he going to charge them with anything? I thought not
It’s a dem thing I guess. We got a U.S. Rep. here in NE Fla. that hands out “quick pick” lists for election day.

Legal? I guess so. ethical? well......
Oh ok, Sorry! Like drunk drivers get a warning.
These people are completely out of touch with reality.
Have they forgotten that laws do not apply to democrats - especially the Clintons and Obamas.
I’m St Johns county and how the hell is she still there when the elections swing to republicans?
“Stumpy” Clinton can’t help it if she looks like a stump.
Of course, she’s “above the law” but I’m guessing a whole lot of Bernie supporters here in the Commonwealth are feeling pretty burned today. She may lose her base here.
Redistricting is going to happen but not ‘till after the 2016 election cycle and also as I’m sure your already aware she’s fighting it tooth and nail (not unexpected).
Bill Galvin, democrat. Enough said.
It is voter intimidation. Bill has a squad of secret service with him, and it would also be a disruption.
Dems also know bringing cameras (which will follow them) into a polling place will keep some people from voting (in my area that would be a big deal, as many like myself are coerced into registering as a dem, and cameras would make many union members like myself flee the scene).
Union bosses and party bosses often act as officials in our polling places which is bad enough. Imagine the Clintons being there as well.
Yea I knw and it doe snot surprise me at all. It seems every time the districts get drawn up again the Dems go to the court.
Hell the Dems though a small minority in my county still went to the DOJ a few years ago over school board re-districting.
Oh give Bill a break, he’s just out looking for some stray pune tang.
Rules and laws don’t apply to democrats.
Silly official! I am Clin-Ton! Your rules do not apply to me!
The Toon going into a polling place to shake hands, maybe not on its own. But his security detail shutting down the polling place, now that HAS to be a violation. Stipulate he must go by himself and see if he still wants to get close to the adoring masses.
