Sen. Ted Cruz speculated Sunday that Republican presidential rival Donald Trump might be delaying the release of his tax returns because of possible ties with the mob.
"Maybe it is the case that Donald, there have been multiple media reports about Donald's business dealings with the mob, with the mafia," Cruz said on "Meet the Press."
"Maybe his taxes show those business dealings are a lot more extensive than has been reported," he added.
Cruz repeated the suggestion on ABC's "This Week," seemingly stunning host George Stephanopoulos.
"Business dealings with the mafia?" Stephanopoulos asked, incredulously.

Government itself, unfortunately, has become its own mafia and is certainly in league with big-city mafia bosses. The internationalist mafia (Bush, Rubio, and maybe even Cruz, given his recent utterings) the Arkansas mafia (Clinton), the Chicago mafia (Obama). Thus, I would not be shocked to find the New York mafia behind Trump. But if it proves true, it is disappointing, but not disqualifying, given our other choices this election. Probably the only non-mafia guys on the stage are Ben Carson and perhaps Bernie Sanders. Without an organization behind you, a politician has a near zero chance of prevailing.
I can see why Cruz wants to abolish the IRS now.

, one does not directly pay the mob on pays front companies whom inland of the money to the appropriate mobsters this is why Rico statute exists.
