Sen. Ted Cruz speculated Sunday that Republican presidential rival Donald Trump might be delaying the release of his tax returns because of possible ties with the mob.
"Maybe it is the case that Donald, there have been multiple media reports about Donald's business dealings with the mob, with the mafia," Cruz said on "Meet the Press."
"Maybe his taxes show those business dealings are a lot more extensive than has been reported," he added.
Cruz repeated the suggestion on ABC's "This Week," seemingly stunning host George Stephanopoulos.
"Business dealings with the mafia?" Stephanopoulos asked, incredulously.

So...essentially, you admit that Cruz is right in speculating that Trump may have mob connections then? Thanks for the clarification that Cruz is correct. lol
Hey, if Trump can throw around baseless accusations and lies about the kind of guy Cruz is, and attack his character non-stop over trivial and/or nothing burger things, why can’t Cruz bring up a logical point about a possibly reason Trump isn’t being forthright with his tax returns???
Trivial, baseless or not, why is Trump allowed to skate, when anything is brought up questioning who he is, but everyone else is under a microscope?
I totally disagree.
It won’t make any difference. If he releases them he will be wrong.
If he does not he will be wrong.
Trump will do what he needs in his own time.
Oh, so accusing someone of “Voter Fraud” is somehow ‘not’ slimy and beyond the pale then? Nice double-standard ya got there.
Cruz showed desperation when he accepted Crazy Beck. At that point I stopped taking him serious.
This comment by Cruz shows further how desperate he has become.
Thankfully for him it will be all over on Tuesday night.
You forgot Tony Soprano!
Cruz must be part of the GOPe plan, read it at the link.
Until it is produced, it might contain anything. Speculation, clearly labeled as such is just speculation.
Cruzhate and the Trumpettes have been playing all month.
I think Trump is gonna surprise Cruz in Texas...folks like to back the winning horse.
No , Cruz needs to keep Beck around ..
Cruz is the establishment’s “anti-establishment” candidate
Wanna compare IQs?? Methinks I would beat you. Also, the Dean of Harvard law school said that Cruz is the brightest student he has ever known. Lanny Davis, If I remember.
Ironic statement....since....Trump is in the very process of schlonging his fans and America ... and yet most are incapable of seeing what is so obvious (or should be) to all.
>>> I would not be surprised if the candidates confided in Donald about their love life, spilled damaging opposition research WRT their opponents and damning stuff about well-known pols-—in order to get bigger donations.
They/re wishing now they hadn’t said the things they did....b/c Donald knows plenty. <<<
Interesting possibility! Now if a guy who owns a bunch of hotels knew when certain politicians checked in and with whom...
That might even explain that old Las Vegas homosexual rape accusation — covering for a politician.
I see your point.
However, Trump started unloading on Cruz when Cruz first unloaded on Trump before that private donor meeting (went for the jugular). It has been tit-for-tat every since.
Cruz has been explicitly misrepresenting Trump’s positions, and Trump just says he is lying, which he is.
But there are accusations that are a bit more severe, such as claiming Trump has connections to a crime syndicate, and getting them out of thin air.
“Folks like to back the winning horse” Osama Bin Laden
Yeah, funny how the Trump cult cheers, laughs and points whenever he hits his opponents hard....but when his opponents hit him back (finally) hard, they squeal like a pack of stuck pigs...lol.
Atlantic City, in the 1970’s was totally controlled by the mob. There is NO way a casino could be built there without the mob having a piece of the pie..
Or in Trump's case, the winning jack@ss.
