The theme music from Harrison Ford's movie 'Air Force One' blared over loudspeakers in a rural Tennessee airport hangar, and minutes later a less presidential noise wafted over a hot mic.
'Get in the plane and go home. It's over there. Go home.'
That was Donald Trump, the Republican presidential front-runner, telling his newest endorser Chris Christie in front of 12,000 people exactly where to go and how to get there.
Christie had just sung The Donald's praises following the dramatic entrance of his plane in a stunt the campaign invented a month ago in Dubuque, Iowa.
And more importantly, he had trashed Marco Rubio.
The boyish Florida senator who has given Trump his share of heartburn in recent days, Christie told thousands clumped shoulder-to-shoulder, 'said he's gonna work as hard as he can as long as he can to win the Republican nomination.'
'That would be something new for Marco Rubio to show up to work at all!'
'How about a refund, Senator Rubio?' he asked of the senator who has skipped more hearings on Capitol Hill than he's attended in five years on the job.
Christie and Trump had strode down a set of tarmac stairs from what Rubio now calls 'Hair Force One' to the strains of Marc Cohn's 'Walking in Memphis,' a hat tip to the music city just a half hour's drive away.
A deafening roar set the scene. Christie knocked young Marco out of the park. And then Trump showed him the back of his hand.
It was, as one Twitter wag opined, the political political equivalent of leaving the money on the nightstand.

‘Get in the plane and go home. It’s over there’: Donald Trump is caught on mic cold-shouldering his newest endorser Chris Christie as he tears into ‘little Marco’ Rubio
Out of context, more like “hell yeah lets get to work”
Or maybe Trump was being kind to him . . knowing Christie was tired . . and was willing to let him go home early on his plane, which had to cost quite a lot.
Based on what I saw, I’d come to the same conclusion. Christie has been in Texas a few days. Trying to make something out of nothing.
I agree with you! I seee it as Trump having another jet available so Christie could go be with his family after a long week on the road. If you get past all the blithering idiots online...and REALLY look at the man...I see Trump as a caring man with integrity and one who puts family first.
Trump doesn’t leave anything on the table.
I’m sure he knew the mic might be open.
He got what he needed.
How is what he said a diss?
Damn...it’s over ...again /s
I don’t believe this....this has to be a hit piece against Christie and Trump...nope, Trump doesn’t treat his friends like this...
Read an article the other day about Roger Stone and Trump...Roger and Trump were talking about the two new books Roger was writing, and Roger told Trump he was going to leave the Organization because he didn’t want any of what these two books: “War on Women” and “Jeb and the Bush Crime Family” to have any adverse on Trump’s campaign...do they talk? The article didn’t say, but Roger says that Trump treats his friends very well, and that would include Christie, they have been friends for 14 years...
That’s how I take it. If Trump was telling Christie to get out of his face, I doubt very seriously Christie would have hung around for the speech.
Really! Sure.
I heard Trump say that but you left out the beginning, where he thanked Chris, and then he said go home there is a plane over there that will get you home.
Remember Trump hadn’t started talking but a crowd of 12,000 was waiting and Chris did a wonderful job and Trump was shaking his hand.
What BS, go to the Youtube and don’t believe this guy.
A minute later you will hear Trump say he really wanted Chris’s endorsement and appreciated it.
How on earth does that sound like a Diss?
Exactly.
So the DAily Mail doesn’t like TRUMP. Guess not. Trump proves to be no sucker. They are not used to that.
This is it, the killer last straw. He will implode over the weekend over this....act...of...kindness.
Nope. The Daily Mail plays with us.
Exactly. Now it's time to divide and conquer.
British misinterpretation.
