Guzman’s attorney says the drug lord will plead guilty once he arrives if his lawyer can negotiate a “reasonable sentence” in addition to the medium security detention.
The attorney, Jose Refugio Rodriguez, said he discussed the idea with the kingpin during a meeting on February 15. He said Guzman asked him to get in touch with a U.S. lawyer to discuss the process.
Guzman, the purported leader of the Sinaloa cartel, has broken out of Mexican maximum-security prisons two times. He slipped out of the Altiplano prison in July through a mile-long tunnel dug under the prison, but was recaptured in January.
Since then, he has been subjected to “physical and mental torture,” according to another attorney.
“He told me, literally, ‘Every two hours, at night, they wake me up to take roll. … They are turning me into a zombie. They do not let me sleep. All I want is just for them to let me sleep,’ ” attorney Juan Pablo Badillo said.

This proposal reads like something Obama or John Kerry would accept, then run around bragging about. Bragging for a while, until El Chapolito breaks out again. Why do you think he’s asking for medium security?
Too bad 0 wants to shut down Gitmo. We could always send him to the medium security facility there. I’m sure we could build one cheap - all it would take would be a 4’ x 4’ steel box placed in a hole in the ground. A medium security box. :-)

We’re still importing Mexican criminals? It shows kind of a dilemma with the slogan of “deport the criminals first”. We keep track of US citizen criminals and once you deport a Mexican criminal, you lose track of him and he comes back to ply his trade in sanctuary cities with a new ID with no concern that he’ll be looked at closely. Illegal alien + criminal = execution and burial. Nothing else is workable.
I wonder how much Obama will be selling presidential pardons for? Clinton was getting 6 figures for them.
