Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Friday vowed to "open up" libel laws in order to sue media outlets that write "purposely negative" and "horrible" articles about him.
"I’m gonna open up our libel laws, so when they write purposely negative and horrible, false articles, we can sue them and win lots of money," Trump said at a rally in Fort Worth, Texas.
"We’re going to open up those libels laws," he added. "So that when The New York Times writes a hit piece, which is a total disgrace, or when The Washington Post, which is there for other reasons, writes a hit piece, we can sue them and win money."

It is bizarre the same Trumpster Freepers who supported SCOTUS in Citizens United, who opposed McCain Feingold, who were offended by Jeb Bush when he suggested a Constitutional Convention to overturn the SCOTUS on CU, fully support Trump’s desire to overturn New York Times Co. v. Sullivan.

A media maggot can print any lie about anyone and get them fired with those lies. so what If someone prints big lies about you that get you fired and ostracized so you can't even make a living. You want to have those reporters above the law and deny us our right to sue.
No one is proposing government censorship but a 2 individuals fighting it out in court as we do in other matters. The government just acts as referee.

As long as the lie ins’t libelous, it does. You may not like it, but that’s the law. It’s a thing you might have heard of called the First Amendment. You might try reading it. It’s not long.

But I did state that while I don’t know if Trump is right or wrong with his tactics (from what you say I would guess wrong), the mindless liberal activism by the big media is ruining us, and somehow it should be address.
Having said that I don’t know what the answer is. But if it doesn’t stop we’ll all be transformed past the point of no return.

Also under current law, the media can be sued what you mention if actual malice can be proven and the person in question was damaged.
So, I'm not sure what your concern is.

Trump doesn’t challenge bullies. He IS a bully.
We already have those laws. We don’t need more laws.
I’ve said repeatedly that I like Trump and think he’s done a lot of good for New York and other communities.
That doesn’t mean I support him or his agenda. If you can’t tell the difference, I feel sorry for you.
