He may get crossover votes in upstate New York, as well as Republicans. I’m talking to lots of upstate New Yorkers who really love Trump. Of course, he’ll never get Manhattan.
I live in NY also. NYC is not Long Island nor Upstate New York. Hell, even in NYC you will see strong Trump showings in Staten Island, Queens, parts of Manhattan, etc.
And do you think New Yorkers HAVE EVER CARED what a governor of New Jersey thinks? He might as well be governor of Saudi Arabia to them.

Since this is Trump’s first time around the political block, just what kind of back-up would you be looking for? Kicking butt with the entire media, and both parties pulling out all the stops to bring him down - does that qualify as some kind of indication of a change in the electorate’s thinking?
Are you up to speed on what’s transpired over the past seven years in this country? When your stomach’s empty, one of the first things to go is liberal ideology.

So what happened? Trump wins in a landslide!
Cruz fails to win a SINGLE county.
I do not guarantee Trump wins NY. But keep in mind you are in NY city. We are talking about NY state!
