Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval said Thursday he is not interested in being considered for a seat on the Supreme Court. Wednesday, the Washington Post reported Sandoval, a Republican, was being vetted by the White House for a possible nomination. Sandoval said in a statement that he notified the White House he doesn´t want to be considered "at this time" for a nomination and that he told Senate leaders the same thing. President Barack Obama is planning to name a candidate to fill the seat of the late Antonin Scalia, though Republicans say they will not hold hearings.

Knowing the nomination will be blocked, who would want the nomination at this point?

Bottom line: Once Sandoval saw strategic leak to Post of only his name, he got the game that was going on, got out before he got bludgeoned.

I read a pretty good article (wish I’d kept the link) that many potential nominees are not going to want to be considered due to the lame duck status of Obama & all that means with Congress. If Sandoval not wanting to be considered “at this time” is an indication this ‘reluctance’ will be happening for real, then maybe there is some small hope to get through the rest of the year without Obama getting his way with another Supreme Court appointment. I have little to no faith in the Repubs to oppose him on this or anything else based on the last 7 years.

Also, Sandoval saw NV GOPers telling tales out of school in the press. No way did he want his record as Gov. scrutinized nationally while the kenyan used him.

I’ve heard rumors that Sandoval has his sights set on the Senate seat being vacated by Harry Reid. He trounced Reid’s son for re-election, and Pa didn’t want to become the latest loser in a family full of them.
To: Nachum
Had a horrible thought - wouldn’t surprise me if he tapped Rahm or even Gorelick! Anyone who would drive us up a wall will be the one(s) he nominates...
