Straight Talk I am a Ted Cruz supporter, but I want to say a thing or too to my Republican brothers and sisters...indeed to all of my American brothers and sisters...about Donald Trump. I hear many people, analysts, prgnosticators, and politicians trying to explain the Turmp "Phenomenon." They go to great lengths about all sorts of things when it is really pretty easy and straight forward. It's a three bullet point explanation:
Say what you will about the man. Call him irreverant. Call him angry. Call him a braggart. Call him whatever you want. Most people already understand all those types of things about him...and they are getting behind him anyway because of those three very direct points I just mentioned. He has opened the doors wide on issues that most Americans think about...and offering solutions that most American people have already thought to themselves. Now those same Americans are finding out that the right person does not have to be politically correct. The right person does not have to be politically spit and polished. The right person simply has to be believed. Let's just look at five pretty big things real quickly:
As I say, I am a Ted Cruz supporter. I believe Ted cruz would make all of these things happen as well, and ahs simlarly good plans for them. I intend to support Ted as long as he is in the race...and to the nomination if we can get there. But I also believe Trump is a very capable individual who can make these things happen too...and so would support him in a heartbeat if he wins the nomination. I also talk to a LOT of people. I know Black Americans who voted for Obama and feel very let down by him (with good reason...life for many Black Americans is worse under Obama than it has been in years), who will be voting for Trump.
I know Latino Americans whose parents or grandparents (or themselves) came to this country legally and who lean Democratic, but who will be voting for Trump. Why? It is precisely because they want illegal immigration controlled and believe Trump will actually do it...and not just pay lip service to it. They also believe that his economic policies will make life better for them and their families. I know many people in New York who are excited about Trump's prospects for putting New York in play for the GOP...and I believe he is the one GOP candidate who could do so. Seriously, I think the prognosticators, analysts, and career/establishment politicans simply do not get it. And so I think that what they are going to "get" is a big fat surprise. I honestly think that Trump may have the ability to pull together a large coalition capable of winning in a big fashion...something like we have not been seen since the 1980 and 1984 Reagan victories. And what is intrersting...if you remember it, or if you study it...it would be for very similar reaons and addressing very similar cicumstances. Is Trump mad or angry? Perhaps about certain things he is. But you might also call it rightously indignant or frustrated as well. But guess what? So are a LOT of Americans! Trump is speaking to that, and he is doing so in such a way that the people are inclined to give him the opportunity to make good on what he is saying. And if he does get the nomination, and if he does go on and accomplish these things... Well, get ready for eight years of a major turnaround and America becoming great again...in the eyes of its own citizens, and in the eyes of the world. Jeff Head

Excellent Post~You are a Free Republic Treasure :)
Thank you for those kind words...they are too kind, but I thank you for them all the same.
There are a number of people...as with many thread...who probably are just responding to the title of the article rather than actually reading it. Some who would not, or did not, read past my first sentence where I identified myself as a Cruz supporter.
They really should read the whole thing.
God’s speed to you and yours.
Well, I believe I countered those arguments in my article.
In the end, we are going to have a nominee. I hope that is Cruz and am working to try and make it so. But we also have to realize it may be Trump who the voters decide to put up against Hillary or Sanders.
If that is the case...I will support Trump...and I believe that the things I mention here give my good cause to do so.
I am not gullible in the least, and I do not believe that the majority of conservatives, or anyone who really cares about the future of the country are.
In the end, we will have a candidate that we will need to defeat Hillary or Sanders. As I have said, I am willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that is that ends up being Trump, Ted Cruz himself will support him in the general.
You make a better case for The Donald than you do for The Ted here. :^)
Just noticing'.
I was not really trying to make a case for Cruz in this article. I have made my decision concerning Senator Cruz and will stand by it as long as he is in the race.
My whole point in this article was to communicate to my brother and sister conservatives and Americans why Donald Trump is doing as well as he is, and what that will mean for the country should he proceed and win the nomination.
Even though I support Cruz, I have to have my mind and eyes open to the reality around me...and then consider those realities and what they will mean. I have done so...and then tried my best to communicate it to those around me.
As I have said here...I believe that Ted Cruz himself is a solid and patriotic American. He has been fighting the fight. He himself...unless I have seriously misjudged him and I do not believe for a moment that I have...as I say, he himself, should Trump become the nominee, will not throw down his toys and simply go home and leave the country on its own.
Ted cares deeply about this nation and its future. No, Ted Cruz himself will support Trump as the nominee against Hillary or Sanders should it come to that.
I know I will in any case.
Excellent thread Jeff, thank you for posting this.
bttt
You are welcome.
Well done! BTTT!
Spot on!
I think that America sees Trump as a leader, a strong leader. We have not had a strong leader since Reagan we want another strong leader not a president who goes around the world on a bent knee apologizing for who we are.
