Rubio: 'You Don’t Win The Nomination By How Many States You Win' (VIDEO)
Talking Points ^

Posted on 02/24/2016 9:56:08 AM PST by TigerClaws

Following another second-place finish in the Nevada GOP caucus, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) argued Wednesday that candidates don't win presidential primaries simply by winning individual states.

When asked about his loss to Donald Trump in the Nevada caucus on Tuesday on "Fox and Friends," Rubio noted that "this is an unusual election."

"And right now, what you have is a situation where Donald—the majority of the Republican electorate, the majority of Republican voters in this country do not want Donald Trump to be the nominee," Rubio said.

He said that the anti-Trump voters are "divided up" among the remaining candidates. ADVERTISING

"Until there’s some kind of consolidation here, you’re not going to have a clear alternative to Donald Trump, and the argument we’ve made is, I’m as conservative as anyone in this race, but I’m the conservative that can unify the Republican Party," Rubio said.

Co-host Ashley Earhardt asked Rubio if he needs to start winning primaries in order to win the nomination.

"You don’t win the nomination by how many states you win," Rubio responded before adding that he will have to win some winner-take-all states in March.

Earhardt then asked Rubio which states specifically he could win.

"Well, we feel great in every one of those states. We’re going to pick up delegates in all of them," he said, adding that he doesn't want to offer specific predictions.

“”And right now, what you have is a situation where Donald”the majority of the Republican electorate, the majority of Republican voters in this country do not want Donald Trump to be the nominee,” Rubio said.”

That doesn’t make any sense... You could say the same about all the candidates. So the republicans not voting for Rubio just don’t want Rubio to be the nominee? Why would it just work that way for Trunp?

The bench was the whole reason the GOP went along with the fig leaf resolution for McCain as cover for The Usurper.
The goal that both parties share is changing the Constitution without the hassle of amending it.
Confuse people about the clear meaning and intent of a three word phrase and voila, we make every anchor baby and Winston Churchill eligible.

The up and comers and future of the party, Jindal, Haley, Rubio, Cruz are all ineligible, as is Barry Soetoro

this is a huge hint they€™re going to have a brokered convention for the GOPe to pick the nominee.

Dear Fellow American,

Please tell me this can and will be avoided. Otherwise what the hell are doing? What good is it to vote for a person if in fact the “elites” at the top will choose for us?

I guess Mark Twain is right!

Ummm...actually, I thought winning in state primaries was exactly how you won the nomination.

The sounds like Jeb’s plan to win the nomination without the base.

Coming in #2 or #3 in those states is not a path to the Oval Office, Marco, especially in the winner-take-all states.

Where did you go to school? Maybe you think Common Core math will give you a different answer.

Good point, and Trump is already over 1/3 of the way there.

If (and it’s a big if) Trump is the only person who won at least 8 states (and thus the only person whose name can be place in nomination), exactly how will the GOPe justify him not getting the nomination on the first ballot?

If Trump has enough delegates to win the nomination, and those delegates change their votes at the convention, all hades will break lose.

Using that philosophy, I could have a good shot at winning the Daytona 500 if I could talk all the professional drivers into dropping out, and then recruit my mother and some of her friends to drive against me. I think that would be more than fair.

He doesn’t get to chose who stays in the race and who doesn’t, he has to make his case to the American people. The problem is, he’s been trying to do just that, and 80 percent of the republican voters have rejected him.

You win it the back room at the convention as the last hope of the party elite.

I don’t think McCain’s citizenship for qualification is really questionable. He was born on a US Naval base to legal QUALIFIED citizens. Military bases, embassies, military ships etc. are all sovereign US properties. That’s why when they are attacked it can be considered an act of war.

Well...
Technically, he want born on base because there wasn’t a hospital on base, and even though I dislike McCain, his situation is the only carve out I would make. Two citizen parents in the service of their country with no foreign allegiances.

i was simply pointing out how often the issue has come up in the past 8 years.

McCain’s father was a US citizen. so McCain was clearly “natural born” as far as the Constitution was concerned (originalist intent) even if was born outside of the USA.

America’s had it’s little experiment with a minority president.I don’t think we’ll try that again in any of our lifetimes.

There is nothing wrong with a 'minority' President.
There is much wrong with an American hating, Marxist, atheist President. Of any skin color. Bill Ayers would've been the same.

There are many so-called 'minorities' that would make good President. But they actually love this Country.
