It’s time to start speculating about Donald Trump’s vice presidential pick
The Washington Post ^ | February 23, 2016 | Chris Cillizza

On "Morning Joe" Tuesday morning, host Mika Brzezinski threw out an interesting theory: Donald Trump and Marco Rubio are playing nice with one another — and savaging Ted Cruz — because a backroom deal has been cut between the two to form a ticket with Trump as the presidential nominee and the Florida senator as the second in command.

I don't think that deal has been cut. But Brzezinski's speculation did get me to thinking about whom Trump might pick as his vice president. (For those of you who think such speculation is premature, I say (1) it sort of is and (2) read this.)

I listened to Trump’s interview with Pat Robertson and one interesting clue came out as to who would be his VP. Trump said it would have to be someone with extensive political experience who knows the ins and outs of Washington and who would know how to get legislation through the Congress.

That was quite interesting.

"I think I’ve got the perfect Veep: Trace Adkins."

This is sort of why I have jokingly suggested the actor Jim Caviezel

A devout Catholic, good looking and well spoken

You and other Freepers write about the possibility of Trump picking Cruz, as if the decision were entirely up to Trump, and the potential vice-presidential candidates would have nothing to say about it.

Do you really think Trump would want at his side any man he has described in such negative and insulting terms? If Trump believes what he has said about Cruz—whether those things are true or not—he wouldn’t want someone like that working with him. And Cruz surely would not want to work for or with a man who has repeatedly insulted him in crude terms. It would be pretty demeaning.

No, I think Trump has burned some bridges. He can’t use any of the other candidates he has run against. It’s going to have to be someone outside of the usual process.

Actually the only Freepers that have a clue are those not swooning over the Pied Piper on the way over the cliff. Those not blinded by the light are being force marched along with the gleeful.

Actually, buying Trump stock will be very profitable as he takes over the grifting from the dems.

It is forbidden in the Constitution. Article II, Section 1, at least one of the President and the Vice President MUST be from a different state than the Electors (i.e. those 538 people chosen in the General Election).

Many have said that, but W and Cheney made it work.

Uh, they didn't "make it work." What actually happened is that Dick Cheney rushed his ass back to Wyoming from Texas, and re-established his residency immediately before Bush officially nominated him in front of the Convention. They were literally from 2 different states (even if only for a couple of days). I knew that Cheney would be the pick, because about a week before the Convention there was a report that Cheney unexpectedly got on a plane to Wyoming.

They made it work by following the Constitution - not by both being from the same state and having everyone ignore the elephant in the room (which, you can be sure, the Dems and Algore wouldn’t have done for a single heartbeat).

Yeah, I’ve thought of that too.

Funny thing, Rush has mentioned it now for a couple of days, saying it was possibly “defamatory” language that Trump used against Cruz.

So, maybe it’s possible that Trump’s lawyers told Trump to tamp it down a little. And, today .. I haven’t heard anything about a Trump comment about Cruz. Did you ..??
