Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is within 1 point of Ted Cruz in Cruz's home state, according to a poll released Wednesday.
Cruz has 29 percent support in Texas, followed closely by Trump, at 28 percent, and Marco Rubio, at 25 percent, according to an Emerson College poll released Wednesday. John Kasich takes 9 percent support, with Ben Carson at 4 percent.
The poll comes on the heels of Trump's dominant performance in the Nevada caucuses Tuesday, his third straight win in the GOP race.
Texas is one of the dozen states voting on Super Tuesday next week, and the billionaire businessman has made clear that he intends to beat Cruz in his home state.
"I think it's very likely that Mr. Trump can win here in Texas," Trump spokeswoman Katrina Pierson told CNN on Wednesday morning.

Sorry BigEdLB : )
Thanks for your work.
Axlegrease is a genius in my book.
He got Baraq elected twice, and the second time was really miraculous given how bad things were after 4 years.
If Axlegrease is being honest here, that’s probably right.
From The Green Papers:
Tuesday 1 March 2016: All 155 of Texas's delegates to the Republican National Convention are bound to presidential contenders in today's Texas Presidential Primary. [General Rules for All Conventions and Meetings. Rule 38.]
Most of the delegates are the per-district delegates (108 district vs 47 statewide). If a candidate has a plurality in most of the districts, he could walk away with a majority of the delegates for Texas.
Glenn Beck, is that you?
“Watch for the establishment to try to buy him off with a promise of being Dondi’s running mate.”
I think the GOPe plan C after Jeb and Rubio fail to pan out is a brokered convention, the proffer of some compromise candidate (think Willard here) with Cruz as VP as a sop for the plantation conservatives. That will lose to Hillary, but will not unsettled the resting Beltway backsides.
No!!! Not Jon Wayne.
Letting Cruz win Texas might be a good strategy to preserve the 3-way race, but Trump would never pass up the chance to win. He wants to beat all of the remaining candidates (save Carson) in their home states.
I agree with you. I think Trump can pull Texas off. He’s got a big rally or two there planned.
This poll was obviously conducted prior to Trump’s big win in NV, so it will be interesting to see if there are any more polls in TX that come out this weekend. It wouldn’t be surprising if Trump pulls ahead in TX, because most people want to vote for a winner, not for someone who is always competing for 2nd or 3rd place.
This is beyond over. Funny seeing Jonah Goldberg squirm on FOX today. “Where can Rubio win?”
“Well, blah, blah, still not over”
Fellow Texans, gals & guys....Ted Cruz/Glenn Beck are toast!!! Show the true Texas American spirit...cast your valuable vote for Donald J. Trump in the upcoming Texas POTUS Primary!!!
For someone emulating Patton the way you do in your screen name, your whining about Trump makes you sound like a pusillanimous. Not at all how I’d imagine Patton responding.
Cheese with that whine?
“Hitler, Napoleon, Hitler, blah blah”
LOL

What a pointless waste of space that post was! Get over your butt hurt. Ted’s a loser in this race and the BEST MAN is winning everywhere.
I'm not betting on Trump beating Cruz here, as he probably has the lion's share of the early vote in the bag.
That said, I ain't voting against Trump either. People like a winner.
HAH!!!
I’m early voting shortly. Will vote for Trump today. But I think Cruz will win here, too. I still like Cruz as our Senator and for taking out Dewhurst and giving Cornyn hell.
