If he gets the nomination the MSM will turn on a dime and report it all and get us a socialist elected. Hillary leads in a head to head race with Trump even now.
Cruz has *zero* chance of winning. And I'd rather have half a loaf (Trump) then zero, whether from being sold out (Boehner/Ryan, McCuckell), (Rubio), or from a self-preening "moral victory" where I vote "correctly" but lose (Paul, Cruz, Carson).
Incidentally -- it appears you are failing to consider the long-term effects of your choice. Were the GOP to go with Cruz (and lose in a landslide, as he is doing now) we would forever cement in place the lie that "conservatives can never win, now get in line with the GOPe". Trump is actively overcoming the lies: he is winning among both women and Hispanics, the two key demographic groups that the GOP was "pretending" to court by continually running designated losers and squishes.
Why is it that a disproportionate share of ardent Cruz supporters on FR, all seem to come from Texas? What is it about that state that generates xenophobia towards the rest of the country?
