Republican fundraiser Bobbie Kilberg got down to the nub of the issue in explaining why she wants GOP presidential candidate John Kasich to give up the ship.
"I think it is not helpful to have more than one mainstream candidate in this race," Kilberg tells Politico.
Like many in the party after the South Carolina primary, Kilberg says she sees Florida Sen. Marco Rubio as the only establishment-backed candidate with a legitimate chance to overcome the Donald Trump tidal wave and win the nomination, Politico reports.
Other GOP voices say Kasich is accomplishing nothing by staying in the race.

Kasich is not getting out he’s running for VP.
“Poor bastards! All their vote-splitting plans are haunting them! “
Actually, I was listening to Mike Levin, and he believed they want to have as much of vote splitting as possible, so Trump will not get all the needed delegates, so it’ll be determined by a brokered convention.
GOP establishment is fit to be tied.
The Trump Tsunami is cresting and good luck with holding it back.
Rubio is a pro amnesty lightweight with minimal qualifications. He’s in Kasich’s way....
Translation: “Get out! The preservation or our personal influence and stature is more important than your candidacy, or any silly ideology.”
Trump upended their carefully laid-out playbook where Yeb! emerges from a crowded field victorious with 25% victories.
Now they need the field cleared of all but Amnesty Boy to have a shot at blocking us from electing a President who would stop the illegal alien inundation.
The Cheap Labor Express still expects to get their Designated Loser amnesty candidate.
Memorizer Bunny is that Designated Loser
Yep, all those proportional primaries with their percentage thresholds are delegate killers.
When Trump wins Ohio, Kasich is finished.
I would enjoy a T/K ticket. But, I have gotten into the beer a bit, so...
I agree with you. Plus if Cruz drops out...Trump has already hinted at Rubio not being natural born either! So the same challenges exist for the GOP-e as they did for Cruz.
Kasich isn’t the worst choice in the bunch really. I think Donald may be a little further left than Kasich, but Kasich will need to relocate his ...ahem ballz... he tucked away from the 1990’s.
I am not voting for a fake comservative, homosexual, pro amnesty candidate.
RE: Kasich is not getting out he’s running for VP.
If that is the case, Rubio could probably talk to Kasich and ask him to support his candidacy in exchange for making Kasich his VP.
Assuming Rubio is President for 8 years, Kasich can still run for President at that time ( he’ll just be Hillary’s age ).
I’m not endorsing this, but as another tactic, Rubio could talk to Cruz to give way to him so that he can fight Trump one on one in exchange for nominating him to replace Scalia for the SCOTUS.
Rubio was elected as a Tea Party candidate. Just a few years later he’s the establishment candidate.
If the GOPe’s want Kacish out, I want him in.
Not that I want him to win anything. Just split the vote.
I would not fight a Trump/Kasich ticket but I’m sipping some cinnamon whiskey a friend gave us. And its mighty tasty. I think I’ll have another. :-)
Funny how that works?.....and some people here don’t know why Trump is so popular???
Heh, heh, heh. They’re catching on. Which is why I suspect JK will stay in. Just as long as needed.
Rubio was elected as a Tea Party candidate. Just a few years later heâs the establishment candidateThe Tea Party is now an unfunny joke.
