I remember the great man speaking of the evils of communism when he worked for WRAL. He despised the Triangle area being invaded by Northerners. He called UNC the University of Negros and Communists. Forced busing he said would cause nothing but problems. Dan Rather waited patiently every four years for Jesse Helms to lose, even calling the race one time for his opponent. Might of been Jim Hunt he was running against. Rather said “well folks it looks like after decades Jesse Helms finally lost a race in NC.” He didn’t realize when the Western Counties came in most votes would go for Jesse, which they of course did. Rather came back on the air and said “well folks I apologize for prematurely calling the NC senatorial race and saying Jesse Helms had lost, now a station break”. I never laughed so hard in my
life!!

Helms worked long and hard for Ronald Reagan in the 1976 primary race against Gerald Ford. Although Ford got the nomination, Reagan, with all the credit going to Helms and the ground game he put together, won the NC primary,
and Reagan was well on his way to the 1980 nomination.

The great senator from Monroe, NC, the son of Big Jesse the chief of police. A greater conservative never lived and I still miss him.

I sent Cruz money...I would have never sent Cruz money had I known he was born in Canada. He’s not eligible in my book!

I’m kinda mad about that still. Tried to let it go but it still winds me up. :(

Study up on the subject of electoral math. It’s a well known fact that the Dems have a numeric edge over the Republicans, nationally.

The only way a Republican nominee can win the general, is to draw cross-over votes from the other side. Why do you think the Republican party has been working overtime to go soft on the illegal alien issue, and selling their souls to the LaRaza lobby?

Ted doesn’t have cross-over appeal, which explains why he’s been so slow to adopt strong positions on illegals. If it weren’t for Trump taking the lead on that issue, and demonstrating how to win with it, Ted would have treated it like kryptonite.

And I think this is what Trump has going for him. “Make America Great again” is an appealing motto to a lot of people.

“Allowing Democrats and Independents to vote for Republican Candidates can only dilute the party’s preference.”

Nonsense. You need their participation in the general. You may get an odd (chaos op) outcome in one state but open primaries also give you an indication of your candidates demographic draw in a general. And in that regard SC told the tale on both Trump and Cruz..

The source, *cough* an unnamed staffer in the Carson campaign *cough*, said something to himself which was garbled on our iPhone recorder, but which sure *sounded* like "payback's a bitch." /the incredible shrinking violin quartet>

Tomorrow is the South Carolina primary, and this week Donald Trump has been telling supporters that if he wins South Carolina he thinks he could, quote, “Run the table.” Yeah. And if he doesn’t win, he’ll flip over the table like an angry New Jersey housewife. ~ Jimmy Fallon

"Not so. Cruz won 17-29 year olds decisively in S. Carolina. He also won among people for whom the Supreme Court, national security and 'shares my values' are uppermost to them."

Why are they allowing 17-year-olds to vote?

You are in the process of trying to elect Clinton-Lite.

Its morons like you that are responsible for the screwed up condition of this country.

Lots of liberals call themselves evangelicals, but they have no idea what they are evangelizing.

Bill and Hill carried their giant Bibles around too.

Means absolutely nothing

.
The proof that Dems crossed over is right here is this sentence from your post:

>> “ The Reps set a record as they have in Iowa and NH. No doubt there will be a big turnout in NV for the Reps. In NV, the Dems had one third less than in 2008.” <<

Lets see now, More votes in Republican tally, and less votes in Democrat tally, what can cause that????

And you expect to be taken seriously?

Cruz isn’t letting enough beltway professionals feast on his campaign.

I heard this after Iowa about Trump. “Trump is toast, he wont invest”

Independents and new voters. Trump is winning across the board with voters.

The Dems are staying home. They know the fix is in for Hillary. Why waste energy when you know the outcome. I can tell you here in SC, the Trump voters were not Democrats. Half of the Dem voters in SC are black. There weren't enough of them to even register in the exit polls.
