After more than three hours of impassioned public comment Monday night, Charlotte City Council approved new legal protections for gay, lesbian and transgender people â a decision that will likely provoke a battle with the General Assembly, which could nullify the cityâs historic vote.
Council members approved expanding the cityâs existing nondiscrimination ordinance in a 7-4 vote.

Straight and white? You’re not welcome.
Something similar recently happened in Plano, Texas. The city council and mayor ignored the wishes of the citizens and instead sided with the LGBT community. Afterwards we find out the reason they sided with them was due to a major corporation moving into town and their demand that the city appease their LGBT workers.
Follow the money trail.
Hot dog. I can start using the women’s locker room at the gym. It has to smell better.
The Carolinas are going the same route as Virginia — turning into blue states. Mass migration of Leftists who fouled their nests with taxes, regulation, and PC bull****, and now are crapping all over previously red states. The USA is doomed.
If this is all they have to do, I don’t think Charlotte really needs a city council. TOO MUCH government is a bad thing.
What ever happened to the concept that each law covered all citizens equally. Just another example of a special privilege law.
Ha, not a chance! I worked as a lifeguard at a community pool, and *the* worst job was cleaning the women’s locker room. The female of species homo sapiens is the filthiest creature on planet Earth.
I used to make weekend jaunts to Charlotte but quit, I guess I have even less reason to go.
When do these idiot politicians come up for re-election?

Why do we keep losing these culture wars when we have the majority on our side?
And what do we do about it?
Because:
the Leftists lie and use deception to make you think they are the majority. The Leftists threaten lawsuits. People get scared because they no longer have balls from years of the left doing this and ruining people's lives. Because people have been lied to for so long by the MSM who promotes the LGBT as "normal" people who would never think of molesting your children when know this isn't true given their history.
Charlotte is 2 democrats for every 1 republican. There is a large black population which is also going to vote democrat every time. It is hard to vote any non leftists into this council in an election.
Governor McCrory has just said that the state legislature will intervene. Hopefully it will happen fast.
Also, the leader of the lgbt organization working with the council to pass this monstrosity is a convicted sex offender. 20 years old and abused a 15 year old.

Charlotte’s city government is about as left-wing as Berkeley, CA’s was about 25 years ago. But that is symptomatic of the entire country. Big cities are where liberty goes to die.
As America groes increasingly urbanized it is indeed, as you say, doomed.
Why are they calling it: LGBT protections?
Call it what it is: Institutionalized sexual abuse
Someone should place council members under citizen’s arrest as sexual predators, specially if the bathrooms are frequented by minors and children.
Typically businesses and cities fold under the threat of a lawsuit... Where are the red blooded American lawyers bringing in multimillion dollar lawsuits? Heck! Where are the ambulance chasing vultures? We need them
No, the people are not scared, the politicians that we elect are more responsive to pressure tactics from small pressure groups like LGBT than the voters.
This is a problem everywhere. And so far no one has yet to come up with a solution to make the politicians be more responsible to the voters that sent them there than to the pressure groups.
I’ve been thinking about this and the solution is rather simple.
The problem is this. Unlike employees in private industry, these politicians that we employ to represent us do not get reviewed by us, their employers, once a year, like we get reviewed in our jobs.
So the solution is this. Each elected official will automatically be reviewed once a year by the voters of the party that he belongs in a yearly review election. If the majority is unhappy with him he must step down and be replaced by a contingent candidate that is also on the review ballot.
If such a system were in place in Charlotte do you think that ordinance would have passed?
See my post #18 for a permanent solution to this type of problem that exists everywhere. Let me know what you think.
Agreed. As a teenager I had the overnight shift at a gas station off the interstate. I had to clean the restrooms before morning.
What I found in the woman’s restroom at times absolutely beggered description. I think I still have nightmares.
