The idea that the son of a Cuban born in Canada is even a US citizen would have been considered absurd at the time our Constitution was adopted or anytime prior to mid 1930's.
We will have to wait and see how it shakes out. It should be interesting.
I can never get over the blind faith shown by Cruz’s supporters. Ted was American since birth because his Canadian birth certificate shows his mother was born in America. Do you hear yourself? In what other endeavor would you accept this level of documentation?
His mother lived in England for many years, was married to a Brit, started her own mining related company in Calgary and is on the voting rolls there. Ted was given a Canadian BC which means his parents who at that time had to choose nationality by Canadian law (no dual citizenship allowed) had to formally choose Canadian nationality for Raphael/Ted to get that certificate. Ted’s father remained a Canadian citizen until 2005, 35 years after Ted was born.
There are enough suggestive facts that it would be very prudent to ask for the documentation that confirms Ted’s American citizenship, showing when and on what basis, USA citizenship was confirmed. Leave aside the requirement for natural born citizenship at this point, which it is unlikely that Cruz can meet. In matters of law it is not enough to make an assertion, assertions need to be backed up with proofs.
There are many opinions on how to thread the Constitutional restrictions, and legal precedents surrounding natural born citizenship requirements but without even the facts about Ted’s American citizenship verification, such a discussion is moot and there is abundant fodder for successful Democratic attack and derailment of the election.
Let us hope that Cruz is dug in.He is. But it's his own grave and he's too stupid to know it.

I've been saying it for months. Schwarzenegger was a RINO-MSM creation, just like Trump is. Both are total frauds and not at all conservatives. Arnold was a disaster for California Republicans, who have taken the blame for Arnold's implementation of disastrous liberal policies and corrupt corporate fascism. Trump will do the very same. He always has.
