California Republican Assembly endorses Ted Cruz for President
My News LA ^ | February 21, 2016 | CHRIS JENNEWEIN

The influential California Republican Assembly on Sunday endorsed Texas Sen. Ted Cruz for president.

Cruz received the required two-thirds majority on the first ballot at the group's convention in Buena Park, the first time in 20 years a first-ballot endorsement for president has been made, according to California Republican Assembly President Tom Hudson.

"Senator Cruz won the overwhelming first ballot endorsement because he is the proven, consistent conservative," Hudson said. "Cruz is a hero to the conservative movement and he's right in line with what we need in California and nationwide."

The recent death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was a factor in the endorsement, according to Michael Schroeder, a co-chair of Cruz's California campaign and political director and a former California Republican Assembly president.

"Particularly given the recent passing of conservative icon Justice Antonin Scalia, our choice today was an easy one," Schroeder said. 'Everyone trusts Ted Cruz to appoint Justice Scalia's successor."

Tom Del Beccaro received the group's endorsement in the race for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Democrat Barbara Boxer over fellow former California Republican Party Chairman Duf Sundheim.

The California Republican Assembly bills itself as the state's oldest and largest Republican volunteer organization. The late President Ronald Reagan once described it as the "conscience of the Republican Party."

Ted Cruz wins the coveted CRA endowment in California, and on the first ballot no less! According to CRA, this is the first time this has happened in 20 years!

It’s not really gonna matter because unfortunately, by the time it gets to California, the candidate has already been decided. The process sucks.

I thought that the establishment literally hated —and you must hiss when you say the word, like Rush does — Ted Cruz; they don’t like Trump, but they literally HATE, (typed with a hiss) Ted Cruz.

'Everyone trusts Ted Cruz to appoint Justice Scalia's successor."

In 2008, with 4 candidates running, only one had executive experience. And that candidate was NOT McPain, 0' nor Biden.

Similarly, only one 2016 candidate has SCOTUS Clerk experience (to Rehnquist), AG experience, and has argued before SCOTUS.

I would Trust that candidate, and only that candidate, to make 3 or 4 SCOTUS nominations over 4-8 years in the mold of a Scalia.

Cruz has been running almost non stop ads in California for several months. No one else has run a single ad as far as I know.

Pretty easy to win if you’re the only one running.

All the people I know in California, Freepers, Republicans, and Democrats are supporting Trump..... We’ll see in June.

California Republican Politicians, with a few exceptions, are no different than their east coast counterparts..... RINOS all.
