Let's dispel the notion that Marco Rubio did not know who he was talking to. When Rubio walked into the lobby of the Columbia Hampton Inn this morning -- conveniently the same one where the Daily Pennsylvanian staffers are posting up in South Carolina and were eating breakfast around 10:30 a.m. -- he was presumably not expecting to run into Rafael Cruz, father of presidential candidate Ted Cruz, and Cruz campaign staffer Christian Collins.
However, once he saw them he decided to have some fun with them.
"Got a good book there," Rubio said to Collins, a young Cruz staffer in a suit, about the book he was reading over his cup of coffee.
"Not many answers in it, especially that one" Rubio added tersely and walked out of the lobby without a backward glance.
Collins was visibly taken aback after being addressed by his boss' political rival. Rafael Cruz and Collins proceeded to discuss under the incident in hushed voices for several minutes.
-snip-.
UPDATE: a Cruz staffer just confirmed that the book in question was a Bible.

The little creep did a lot better in SC than I expected.
Maybe all the Cruz haters here should have saved a little vitriol for Rubio.
Team Rubio: Marco Bible Video ‘Another Dirty Trick’ from Cruz Campaign
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3400115/posts
......In the lobby of a Hampton Inn on Saturday, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) spotted Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)’s father and a campaign staffer eating breakfast with the Bible on the table. “Got a good book there,” Rubio said to the staffer. “All the answers are in there. Especially in that one.” The exchange was filmed and posted on an anonymous YouTube account and picked up on the Daily Pennsylvanian blog, purporting that Rubio said “not many answers” were in the book. As the video began to go viral, Rubio communications director Alex Conant corrected the report on Twitter and shared the real video of the exchange. “This video has correct transcript; any other is another dirty trick by Cruz camp,” wrote Conant. “How do I know? I’m in the video!!”.....
That is good news.
What bothers me about the alleged 'dirty tricks' that keep happening around Cruz's campaign is that he never fires anyone. Absent that, eventually one has to start assuming that Cruz is at least giving his tacit approval to the things that have gotten them in hot water.
I made that comment up there about Cruz being "busted" again, but in all honesty, i haven't read enough about this one to make that conclusion. But if the original video accusing Rubio of trashing the Bible was pushed/released by a Cruz staffer, then that staffer needs to be fired. That's the only way I and many others will ever think that Cruz is not guilty of, at the very LEAST, looking the other way while his workers engage in unChristian behavior.
Yes. There were two surprises in SC. Trump did not win by the margin his supporters expected, even with all the democrat crossover votes.
And Marco Rubio rose from the dead to do much better than anyone expected.
Maybe Christie should have stayed in another couple of weeks to knock that little creep Rubio back down.
True that.
I don't consider myself a hater. I'm just extremely disappointed that he is not who i thought he was when i voted for him back in 2012. I really do try not to bash him, although i'm not always successful in that.
I idolized him for years until i really started digging, so yeah, I'm quite disappointed with him. Sorry for semi-bashing him up there. :-/
lol. We think alike, although you said it much more eloquently. I posted 123 before i saw your 119. ;-)
You could go to work for NBC. Very good creative writing. Too bad its just your imagination.
He is definitely saying “Every answer in it.”
Read posts 105 & 118
Not sure why you are pointing out my visits, but my life since 2010 has been revolving around my son who has had 2 kidney transplants and numerous visits to the hospital. I drive 2 1/2 hours to UNC at least once per week, and sometimes 3 times per week for his treatments. The last 2 weeks, I was barely lucky enough to spend 2-4 hours per day at home with the rest of my family, so my apologies for not living up to your posting expectations.
Simple fact was that I was responding to the poster who was asking Cruz supporters to vote for Trump. In return I get called spoiled and have my free republic visits questioned. Yep, reaffirms my position.
One has to be physic to hear anything per 105 and then we find just such physic mind reader on 118.
You need to try harder to push “evidence” not conjecture.
This whole thing is a nothingburger to begin with and if anything shows a rather childish Rubio for trying to rub it in with the Cruz staffer.
Rough times, FRiend. Sorry to hear about it.
Jane, as a Christian, I can’t justify voting for anyone who thinks it’s OK to kill innocent babies, as long as the dad is a rapist or a sibling. That’s Trump’s position. I’d be able to forgive or overlook most anything else. Not that. I’m sure I’m not representative of too many voters, so you won’t miss us, but we won’t be coming to that party.
On a bigger scale, I’m still not buying what Trump is selling. I don’t believe his conservative conversion story, and I can’t put together any sort of trust that he will follow through on anything of importance to me. If the abortion issue were not on the table, I might justify a vote for him on the basis that at least he’s not Bernie or Hillary. But as I said, I am blocked. It’s a spiritual matter. I can’t figure out how I would explain it to God that I helped a pro-abort get into office, it’s not working for me. Sorry if that disappoints. Just the way it is.
Peace,
SR
Yes. There were two surprises in SC. Trump did not win by the margin his supporters expected, even with all the democrat crossover votes.
Margin? LOL. It was a 50-0 Cat 5 Trumpnado in SC. An Evangelical electorate overwhelming rejected Ted Cruz in favor of both Trump & Rubio. Give it up. Cruz is done.
Morning,
My remark was a “POP OFF” remark. I should not have said that without having more information. For that I apologize! It wasn’t useful to the purpose of me being here. In retrospect should not have said it at all!!! :)
Are those who claim to be followers, all on the same narrow way with the same destination in mind? Certainly hope so. Think we are to encourage, build up, support others.
Hopefully, we are all adherents/disciples of the same Nazarene!
Not sure the faith of any of the candidates. Seem to remember Trump saying he was Presbyterian............now as typing iirc, read somewhere Rubio was at one time a Mormon and changed to Catholic and that “recollection” could be definitely defective. :)
Think,............... no am sure, both Bibles have the way to salvation, HIS words “ “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Seeing your screen name I think you know the way!!
Was told a long time ago, “Tags” do not mean too much, if you go the heaven it will be blown off and if you go to hell it will be burned off. That is a poor rendition of the saying!
Take care.......pilgrim
Interesting.
Cruz has been forced into firing his top campaign guy over this scam. Rick has been demoted for lying about Rubio in this video.
As I repeatedly stated: The video was a fraud. I hope all who defended it sees this post.
Wait....your post is confusing....is this sleazy Tyler guy fired, or demoted?????
Sorry for the confusion, Jane. Here’s the link:
“Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said Monday heâs fired campaign communications director Rick Tyler, after his top spokesman promoted a video that wrongly depicted Florida Sen. Marco Rubio as trash-talking the Bible.
The Texas senator announced that he’s asked for the resignation at a press conference Monday afternoon.”
