Legendary NY Republican rips party for not backing Trump
New York Post ^ | February 8, 2016 | Fredric U. Dicker

Donald Trump has won the backing of a legendary New York Republican — who also blasted his own state party’s failure to rally behind the candidacy of its “favorite son’’ presidential hopeful.

“You have in Donald Trump a tremendous New York businessman with thousands of employees, a man who helped remake Manhattan for the better, and one who was always there with a contribution when we needed him to back us,” former state GOP Chairman Bill Powers told The Post.

Powers said he feared Trump was already angry enough at the New York GOP that if he becomes president he’ll deny the party the rewards of having power.

Powers, meanwhile, said that if Trump becomes the GOP nominee he hoped he would pick Fla. Sen. Marco Rubio as his running mate.

Powers also said he would “never’’ support Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who has criticized Trump’s “New York values’’

Cruz is a statist, not an “outsider”, malleable, and is NOT a “consistent conservative” at all. He also has a lousy record re his judgement of people.

Did you mean ABC?

Anyone besides Clinton!

vs

Nobody but Clinton?

I’m not sure of the NBC meaning...

I’ll probably be embarrassed...

I heard a legend that there was once a real Republican in New York.

I would have to inspect a voting record for confirmation.

Carson is a shlub!

In the general, the VEEP is supposed to be a "killer", so that the presidential candidate remains mostly above the fray.

Also, Carson is NOT qualified, is doesn't even know enough, compared to crazy Joe Biden. That's not a good choice at all and he's too old.

Trump need a younger person for VEEP and one who is a governor would be good, but I don't know who would fit best with him. Any ideas?

It wasn’t “funny” at all, so you’d best go off line and pray.

N.Y. IS in play, with Trump as the nominee. So is Pa., N.J., and some of the N.E. states!

California is too.

This is a while new ball game, and I think there are people who can’t clearly grasp what the Trump campaign brings to us.

This guy is a political monster, and in a good way.

He’ll shoot through the B. S. And sometimes you need a bit of B. S. to do that.

Stand back. The next president is playing through.

I think Walker, but some here have reservations about him due to the debates. I wish he stayed in only to improve his debate performance. He didn’t have to get the nomination, but the more debates he was in the better he would have gotten.

What office did they hold?

Show me the office they were elected to and link me to a compendium of their votes on various bills.

If you do that, you will have refuted my barb. If you cannot, you will have begrudgingly confirmed it’s accuracy.
