This is the same mandate that John Roberts called a tax. You know, the same John Roberts put in place by the evil Ted Cruz.

That Trump is some conservative!

Don’t worry, once his advisors tell him this won’t poll well in the primary, he’ll flip-flop on it.

At some point will poster here realize Trump is a liberal Democrat? A Trump vs Clinton or Sanders race is truly one for the uniparty.

Wow, that was a short clip without room for context or explanation. I wonder why?

What was that? A 13 second clip- 11 seconds of Anderson Cooper and 2 seconds of Trump. Literally 2 seconds.

What the hell was that all about? I missed the context.

Wow, those Trump people and their belief in time dilation. Somehow Ted Cruz managed, as Solicitor General for Texas and seven years before being elected to the Senate, to help put Roberts on the court. I’ll bet he was involved in Lincoln’s assassination too.

Trump plans to take the US healthcare system further left than it’s ever been.

"This is the same mandate that John Roberts called a tax. You know, the same John Roberts put in place by the evil Ted Cruz." - kik5150

Accusing Cruz of supporting Obamacare via his recommendation of Roberts to the USSC is dishonest. It's a half-truth, a misrepresentation of history at best. Why would you say this?

The facts: John Roberts had a conservative track record, and had argued 39 cases before the USSC. He had excellent conservative credentials. He clerked for USSC Chief Justice William Rehnquist. He was appointed by Ronald Reagan as a special Assistant to the AG. He was appointed to the Federal Court of Appeals by GHW Bush. The Senate held at 55 GOP 45 Democrats, but Democrats had the filibuster available to block any G.W. Bush nominee.

Roberts was the best, most conservative Jurist that Bush could get past the Senate. NOBODY IN THE GOP-c or GOP-e DISAGREED WITH THAT ASSESSMENT IN 2005. So, why the new standard now, for Cruz?

So, Roberts fooled us all, when he all activist on Obamacare. He's considered a reliable conservative otherwise. He infuriated the four conservative dissenters, and just about everyone else in the GOP.

Of course, you DO know this history, correct? Marco Rubio knows this history, too. So, why are you and he trying to hold Cruz responsible for Robert's Obamacare decision? Reagan nominated Sarah Day O'Connor and Anthony Kennedy, widely considered court "moderates", and with a far greater history of progressive jurisprudence than Roberts. Does that mean Reagan should never have been elected President? And if you're recall, Bush, not Cruz made the nomination.

If conservatives beat other conservatives in the primary by distorting and/or rewriting history, plus a generous allotment of foul mouth, grade school, guttersnipe insults, who benefits?

Do you really think conservatives will support the eventual nominee if they perceive him to be an illegitimate candidate due to his conduct (or his supporters, representing him) during the campaign?

As conservatives, "relative moral values" people, we ain't. Alinsky doesn't define our tactics. You're better than this. Marco is better than this. Cut this stuff out.

FReegards.

Looking at the youtube, maybe you're target was Trump. I took you for a Rubio supporter. Rubio has been the main candidate accusing Cruz of being responsible for Obamacare, because he supported Roberts for the USSC. This falsehood really ticks me off, per my post above.

Maybe Trump's brought this up, too, but I haven't seen any other candidate use this line of argument.

Trump vis-a-vis Healthcare, he's all but said "single payer" in his body of speeches. If you think THE DONALD is going to dismantle Obamacare and leave a private insurance solution, then show me anywhere in his history prior to 2015 where he HASN'T supported Obamacare or a single payer plan.

At best, Trump may try to "make the system work better" by beating on private companies, which will stifle innovation and restrict investment. He says he'll cut regulation (i.e. remove state to state limits), which is good, but he's thinner on those details than he is on his prior support of Romneycare, Obamacare, and single payer.

If he's actually "for" the mandate, and didn't misspeak, then, nuff said.

My husband just replayed this from the link on YouTube.

The mandate Mr.Trump is talking about is mandating INSURANCE COMPANIES, to ensure they accept people with pre-existing conditions.

To hear what was actually said, replay this clip from 19:00

Perhaps you should have heard the “mandate” in context. Trump was talking about the mandate that pre-existing conditions would carry over into what ever cross state plans he envisions.

If you are going to take the time to make an argument, Please take the time to have the correct information.

I watched the town hall so I distinctly know this particular passage.

Been asking a lot of Trump supporters how he is going to ensure everyone is covers without having either single payer or. Mandate. Never got an answer.

Now, no need to ask anymore. He finally answered that question himself.

Its not clear what Trump means yet because there’s no details to his health care plan yet. His definition of mandate, single payer, universal health care is not the same as those used by political junkies

That is completely misleading and wrong.

In response to the question about pre-existing conditions he said he likes the mandate—that is the mandate that insurance companies cover people with pre-existing conditions.

That’s completely different from the mandate that people who can afford it buy it.

*Sigh*

You Cruz supporters are getting so dishonest. Really? Cutting out the context? Claiming that it’s the individual mandate when he meant insurance companies?

I thought that we were AGAINST Rodney King-style George Zimmerman-style edits in order to push a narrative.

But apparently it’s okay when it’s to pimp the Mighty Cruz (peace be upon him) and lies about the accursed Trump.

I have NEVER seen so many people project and split for coping mechanisms at once before. It’s surreal.

OK, I just watched the entire town hall. Donald didn’t say anything inappropriate about healthcare. He never said tonight or has he ever said any other time that I am aware of that anyone should be required to purchase health insurance or pay a penalty. It is interesting to see how something completely innocuous can be twisted to have a meaning that was never intended.
